its snowing now. roads are packed with flatlanders :p

if we get the estimated 2' at higher elevations it will be a tough run. although if you hit it when its fresh before it warms up its light and wont pack up and bog you down. Another thought, if we get as much as they think (2') there is a good chance the roads will close due to accidents

Yes. But we took it in green valley.Holcomb valley is where we came out.

Im thinking of going to lytle creek instead of big bear cause of big bear traffic. News said we r getting snow at 4000ft. So even cleghorn might get some also. So if I go its local. Will post on Sunday cause im going on Monday.

Hey guys, I was up there last night. Conditions were poor. It was slush. I meant to get up early and post but I over slept. The 38 was a MESS. about 4-5 Inches on the road and accident galore. Getting up there today would nearly take half the day! (I would like to think the coming for Lucerne would be the best) But yeah, didn't look like much fun. Lots and lots of slush. At one point when coming down the 38 I was only going 10-15mph because the slush i was so deep it was coming over the hood, and couldn't see anything.

Well, I couldn't pass up the opportunity, since it hardly ever really "snows" here in so cal. So I left my house at about 3pm yesterday and headed for the hill. Started up the 38, and to my surprise, it was snowing at the base. I got excited. Really started to snow once I was above 6,000ft.

Got into Big Bear, and it was really coming down. While trying to defrost, the small 2 inch crack in my windshield turned into a 3 foot crack. Awesome. Time for a new windshield.

Took some photos, and them stopped off at a buddys cabin for dinner. Then headed down. I knew it was going to take some time to get down the mountain with the way it was snowing, and the fact the resort has just closed.

So I started down, took a little side trail and then got back on the 38. Good 4 inches of powder on the ground.

Then came the worst part. Traffic stopped about little under halfway down. I didn't move from that spot for 3 hours. I guess some truck towing a trailer, 2WD and no chains went off the road and caused a few other cars to get stuck.

After that is was a slow, slow, very slow drive down the hill.

    Leaving Orange County.

Yeah it was a lot of fun. I like rolling down the windows, turn the music off and drive through the powder... Even though its coming over the hood, its silent. :D
