Red Rock Canyon State Park: Trail Run Scouting

Dumb Q, but is this the same Red Rock Canyon as the one in LV, NV?

 

Nope. This is in Ca.

 

It's not a dumb question. I get it all the time. I've actually had people show up here (Red Rock Canyon State Park, California) looking for their friends they were supposed to meet at the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area in Nevada. Last I counted there are at least 13 "Red Rock Canyon"s throughout the United States.

 

In addition to the tentative December 18th date, I'd like to suggest an alternate date of Sunday, January 15th. Which would work better?

 

I'm clear for either dates.

 

Interested for a weekend

 

I found a few pictures from Last Chance Canyon last year (and the trail damage).

As I said before, many spots in the trail are washed away, so you spend a lot of time in the river bed.

 

Time for a bump.

 

Good bump along with good photos from db. The nice thing about Last Chance Canyon is that every time you go through it will be a little different due to the wash outs from flash flooding.

Regardless of whether I plan on doing this on 12/15/11 or 1/15/12, I will be making this run again. If people want to tag along, they need to start chiming in with which date they prefer more. The meeting spot will be the Dove Springs OHV turn off on Highway 14 at 0930, hitting the trail by 1000.

 

Looks like it would be a fuckin awesome cruise, wish i lived up in the mainland sometimes..................................nah not live just play

Sunday-1/15 is my vote.

 

That's the date I was leaning towards as well. If I get one more person to chime in for for that date, I will lock it down and make it official.

 

Jan 14-15 is the Superstition Mtn meet. Last year was so much fun. Well worth the long drive.

Anyone who has not been to superstition Mtn has to go once. It has every type of off road terrain. Sand dunes, desert trails, rock crawling, mountain climbs, mud (when it rains).

 

sub'd i drive by there every year on the way to mammoth and never thought of stoping and wheelin there would be nice to explore.
