that whole area is bitcing! great views, great scenery.. nothing extreme, just a whole lot of great times being on the trails out there. i been there quite a bit over the years and never get tired of that whole region. i might try and show up..but we'll see

if you arent considering this run maybe you should think twice about it lol

here are some pics of the area that should get everyone excited, if you know the area well enough or willing to explore there is plenty to see:D..

That's an older picture. I got around to putting the California State Park logo on that sign about three years ago.

If anyone is going to camp, it is probably going to be pretty cold at night. The only place to camp inside Red Rock Canyon State Park is the Ricardo Campground, which is $25 a night. If you camp out on BLM land (Jawbone Canyon or Dove Springs) it is free, but there are no facilities.

Same here. While I understand the point of a campground, I don't like to use them. My wife and I enjoy open camping away from any sign of civilization.

The point of my previous post was mostly to let people know that open camping is not allowed in the state park. Some jackass ranger romping a Chevy Colorado might come along and write you a fat ticket. :D

I am not sure I can go. I really want to but I need to be back home by 2:30 pm and its about a 2 hour drive.

If we went on Saturday I could go.

I'm really bummed. I love the trails in this area.

    DIRECTIONS:

Head north on Highway 14. It doesn't matter where you are coming from, just get on Highway 14 and head north. Red Rock Canyon is approximately 20 miles north past the town of Mojave.

    Once you see this sign:
    2hefwpg_19e8cbf5c7a3150d08e4624abe17d4fde6990bf4.jpg

Continue heading north on Highway 14 for another 3.5 miles. You will see this sign on the right side of the road.

Once you see this sign, slow down and turn right (not left like the arrow suggests) and meet up with me in the dirt area found right off the road. I will be there early, maybe by 9:15AM, waiting for everyone.

This sounds like fun and looks beautiful out there. Add me to the list. Phlip4x4Sport, with wife and child (and possibly a friend in a Jeep.)

I am going to this place soon. Can anyone recommend trails where I'd be ok with a prerunner?
