    Hey guys,

I just signed up to TW yesterday and got my truck last week and I'm lovin' it so far. I used to ahve a Jeep grand Cherokee lifted with 4x4 and could take it anywhere. I got myself an 07 Pre Runner V6 TRD Off Road 4x2, and want to test out it's capabilities on some local (or somewhat local) trails. Any good advice? I'm pretty confident in my driving abilities and have a good size arsenal of "oh shit" tools. I know I won't be crawling Broncos Peak anymore, but I'm also not looking for Otay Truck Trail......something in between that shouldn't get me stuck.b I guess it would be pretty helpful to say that I live in the San Diego area!

    Thanks,
    Josh

The desert or Baja... If you get stuck in sand, just lower the air pressure to ~10-15 psi.

Thanks, Buddy! I was looking for more of a trail setting, but hey, I do also need to find out the sand capabilities!

    Welcome to TW! Cool truck.

Sounds like you've been to Corral before...

Did the big loop with a PreRunner last weekend. Had a good time, nothing serious, but the paint job gets a bigtime pinstriping. Recommend avoiding this one:(

Anderson Truck Trail in Alpine is a good for a 2WD.

Hungry Valley SVRA is a bit of a drive from San Diego, but almost all of their trails are 2WD capable.

Hi Josh & welcome to TW from Lakeside, sorry you wont be hitting the peak anymore, those jeeps do well there, You could do Oriflame canyon, most of the desert trails, valley of the moon, you can still do the TDS trail in Corral canyon also to name a few...;)

I think I just sold myself on Anderson truck trail this Monday if anyone wants to join and show me the ropes? I just say a couple of videos out there and some spots look a little hairy. My Taco is bone stock, except for the TRD OR package, but that's just shocks, tires, and a skid plate, haha.

Nice. It's all pretty easy until the growth traps ya in from both sides and the road gets pretty uneven- that's right after the huge ranch with the free running dogs (don't get out of your truck here.)

Not just those... the BIGGEST advantage to the 2WD Off Road Taco is the Locking Rear Differential! So, when one of the back tires is over mush or in the air... lock the rear, and it stops spinning and the other tire can power you ahead... see the start of the video clip above!

This forum is great stuff. I'll keep you guys posted, but I think I'm just starting to realize how deep this rabbit hole goes haha. I definitely need to learn how capable I am in a 4x2, and I hope its a bumpy ride.

It's been trimmed:D, but more for a quad/bike. You're not out there bushwackin:D through it, but just enough to get both sides and the top. But, we had some blue & silver's too!
