You've got lots of great options within close proximity to San Bernardino:

Cleghorn, off the 15, runs along the backside of the San Bernardinos to Silverwood Lake. This is a great trail to run to start to get a feel for your truck. Its mello, but has lots of side shoots for more technical driving.

Holcomb Valley, north of Big Bear, is also pretty mello, but can be fairly challenging if we get enough snow. Also a great place to go play.

Lytle Creek area, behind Mount Baldy, has lots of great trails. Some of them are squeezed by creosote bush, though, and might not be so friendly for a new paint job.

Santiago Peak, in the Santa Ana Mountains, is a fun run, and can be accessed off the 15 north of Lake Elsinore. We usually take the Indian Truck Trail exit.

If you want to drive a bit, Calico, Joshua Tree, Azusa Canyon, and the Mojave Trail aren't too far away, either.

Yeah, I've heard about Cleghorn and it sounds like a good place to start. I know I'm going to get scratches on the truck eventually but the longer I hold off on those the happier I'll be. By the way can anyone recommend anything to help ease those clear coat scratches?

    Wrap the truck in vinyl?

Most of 'em wax out or, at least, are noticeable when waxed and clean.
