Wow first meet was four trucks now over twenty for the second very nice

Ed, I can't believe how many trucks we have going!

 

This will be freakin awesome!

 

As excited as I am about the awesome group we have signed up, there are some logistical problems that we need to address when driving on narrow mountain dirt roads with a large group.

I proposed to Ed that we move in groups with at least 1 truck with a CB in each group, if possible. That way we can let others pass us coming the opposite way without having to wait for 30 trucks to pass them.

I was up there this afternoon, and we had to pass 6 trucks coming the opposite way at different points. Some were easy, as there was a turnout nearby and one of us simply backed up...others were very difficult. One instance almost resulting in a Chevy Blazer flopping over onto my truck as he tried to move up the wall to let me pass.

Any other ideas? That was just one of mine...still need to think about it. It's at least an hour drive, and I think it's better if we're prepared with a plan.

 

I am excited for the trip! Does anyone know where I can get a CB radio setup here locally ASAP?

 

Wal-Mart for the radio, radio-shack for the antenna/mount. Probably run you around $50-$60 bucks.

This is an awesome idea for the safety of all TW members and hikers,bikers, etc.

What percentage of trucks have CB's? I bought a Cobra 19 form Wal mart andam headed to Halon Communications in Downey to get an antenna set up tomorrow.

 

I know we have 5 people including yourself with CB's so far...not sure about everybody else.

A little off topic, but does anybody have an SWR meter I could use to tune my antenna

 

How important is it to tune the antenna? I just have my handheld and bought a magnetic antenna to stick on the roof.
