    Usually means that the fluid got a little too hot and you need to cool it down. Mine came on a few years ago at pismo pulling another tacoma stuck in the sand. Mine came on and went off after a few minutes of cool down time. When it was time to change the transmission oil (i did mine at 90,000) the fluid looked fine and did not smell burnt.

    X2. We were climbing pretty steep trails going under 10 mph for a few hours non-stop. We stopped the truck and let it cool off for while, took off the skid plate to get more air flow to the tranny cooler, and the light went off.

    In this case a manual transmission would have been better imo
