ive seen those roadside testing sites for smog out here in socal. well today i got stopped and all they did was plug into my computer inside the cab by your feet.

first off i am under the assumption that 1st gen tacomas have two cats. 1 front and 1 rear. now do you need an o2 simulator if you remove the rear cat? i plan on removing the rear in the future and adding a magnaflow 14 inch muffler.

now if you need an o2 simulator will you still pass smog if all they do is plug into your cars computer?

You need a simulator if you don't have a cat between 2 o2 sensors.

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
    ^that^

To specify, yes the CA emissions 3.4 has two CATs; front and rear. However the rear one is not monitored by the ECU. No simulator would be needed if it is removed but I cannot guarantee you would pass smog inspection on a visual test.
