Pretty sad to hear about Kurt Caselli. Sad that a life is lost to some stupid people setting up these traps.......RIP Kurt.

Yup, I've met him numerous times when I lived in SoCal. Freaking shame. Mexico is a lost cause at this point.

So now they are saying that it was just a bad crash and that he may have hit an animal. As sad as this is this still is this news is good. He died doing what he was passionate about and he knew the risks....the thought that someone might have caused the crash and his death on purpose is just sickening. I know from friends that have raced Baja that this stuff happens quite a bit though....so bad for the whole event, racers, and fans.

His team stated they found pieces of an animal on the bike. There's no proof off trap at this point.

Seriously, lost cause? You should see the industry around Baja racing... Our Toyota Tacoma TRD was born from Baja racing (Ivan Stewart).

Caselli died doing what he loved, racing... He may have hit a coyote or ??... People do die racing... Off Road racing is huge in Baja... Besides SCORE's 3 races there, other Mexican organizations run races in Baja (CODE, RECORD, etc.).

I guess I read an article too early. Transworld reported him hitting a booby trap etc etc. Sorry I was just a little taken back when I found out yesterday. Took it bad. My apologies to all.

Animal flesh was on the front of his bike... no booby trap... it was still daylight... A cow or horse or other animal was able to wander off, out of sight perhaps?
