Hi all. I feel bad for not being a particularly active member of the forums, but I figured I might as well post here, in case anyone happens to come across my truck...

My home was burglarized late Thursday night and they found the keys to my truck, making off with it. My truck was significantly modified:

    TRD Supercharger Kit.
3" Toytec lift with the threaded Bilstein shocks, and old man EMU rear springs.
    SPC adjustable upper control arms.
    Tundra 4-piston front brakes.
4 great big LED light pods on a bumper-mounted light bar.

These are the biggest ticket items, and probably most noticeable.

It's dark red / burgundy, plenty scratched up since I did drive it up fireroads, etc.

    Plate: 5Y28299
    VIN: 4TAWN74N4XZ441139

I'm attaching some pictures. The only major difference of the current appearance VS the pictures is now it has a spray-in bedliner.

If anyone sees the Truck anywhere in SoCal, can you please message me? If you see this truck in a body shop, on craigslist, etc. I know it's a long shot, but any leads would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Brendan

Hey guys, thanks much for your kindness.

MidnightTaco, I'm over in the Wrigley neighborhood, near the 710. One of those parts of Long Beach, where you're not in the ghetto, but you can see the ghetto from here! :)

TacoBrah, not only supercharged, the vast majority of the work I did do on the truck myself. Including some awesome wiring for the offroad lights. I made a full factory-style wiring harness with high-amperage multi connectors, etc. I completely sound deadened the interior... Took weeks. I had an AEM F/IC on there, and a bunch of other neat stuff to make it a real useful offroader. It was exactly the truck I wanted, and it took months to find and months to build. :( I never did start a build thread, but maybe I'll do one "in memoriam". :)

That sucks, I would cry if someone stole my truck. My neighbor had his 99 tacoma stolen about 5 years ago, so I worry about it consistently. I hope every thing works out for you, good luck.

Hi guys. Thanks for all your kind words.

Want to ask a favor... I need comparable vehicles to demonstrate the value to my insurance company. I've found almost no supercharged tacos out there currently for sale. Can anyone point me to some listings out there? Even on obscure websites. I found one on autotrader, that's it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

UPDATE!!! The truck was found! Unbelievably, the LBPD found it after 7 weeks. Evidently it was involved in another crime.

The bad news... My insurance company wants to declare it a total loss. It didn't look terribly damaged, but I guess a few things really added up in their mind.

I'm not yet sure what I want to do... The offer they've given me so far definitely doesn't account for the TRD supercharger or the plethora of aftermarket parts. I'm still working with them on that.

However, regardless of the final offer, it will probably still be a total loss. So, then I'd have the option of buying it back from them after the payout. But of course, then it would have a salvage title. I really don't want that. Ugh!

Part of me wants to buy it back from them, since this truck was my baby, my toy and fun project for so long. But also, the truck feels "tainted" now, and I would't mind starting from scratch with another truck. Maybe just get a 2005+, since there's really a lot of parts available for the newer ones.

I'm curious what others on the board would do in my situation:
    1) Pull off parts they don't reimburse me for, and let them take it?
    2) Take the payout and then buy it back and just keep it, knowing whenever I sell it down the line, the salvage title will really screw me?

Agree with AZBACKCOUNTRY. Pull off everything you can and let them have it. Get your satisfaction by finding a new truck to make your own. Good luck!

If it happened to me, I'd buy the truck back. Then again, I don't ever plan on selling mine. Good luck whatever you decide to do.
