    Young dad battling brain cancer

25 year old Sebastian Delagado is a loving husband to his wife Monica and a devoted father to his two young boys, Jedediah (19months) and River (2months). There is nothing he loves more than spending time with his family, their two dogs, and getting outside.

Unfortunately, in 2014 Sebastian was diagnosed with grade 2 Astrosytoma, a tumor in his brain. In September 2014, he underwent surgery in which the doctors successfully removed a large amount of the tumor. Recovery was difficult, but he has been able to lead a (mostly) normal life for the past 3 years.

This September, just two months after welcoming their new baby, Sebastian and his family received the devastating news that his tumor has started to grow back.

Surgeons have told the Delgados that there is now an 80% chance that this tumor could grow more rapidly and change into a more aggressive type of tumor, so surgery is necessary to attempt to remove it once again. Following surgery that will take place in early 2018, Sebastian will undergo 6 weeks of radiation and 36 weeks of chemotherapy. This is going to be an extremely difficult time for the Delgado’s.

With all this stress, the last thing they should have to worry about is medical bills and supporting their family. We are hoping to take away as much financial burden as possible. Please consider Sebastian and his family and partner with us in supporting them. Any monetary donation or prayers are greatly appreciated.

    *****************************************************
Many of the local 909 members have decided to set up a Mojave evening/night run to help support a local member of ours who was recently diagnosed with a brain tumor and can use our support and something to help boost morale.

As some of you already know, member Cbassd (Sebastian) suffered a severe seizure a few weeks ago and follow up testing revealed a tumor in his brain. It is still too early to know how bad the tumor is or if it is cancerous or not, but at the very minimum he will undergo brain surgery. Your prayers and thoughts are more than needed for Sebastian right now. The possibilities are still endless with a condition like this but we are trying to stay positive until more tests are done.

To help support him through this tough time, we would like to host a night run in Mojave to show our support and help keep his mind off of the situation and instead more focused on doing something he loves and enjoys. Since we all share a common interest, what better idea than to hit the dirt!

To make this even better, Sebastians 22nd birthday is on August 27th so this will be a great way to help him celebrate an awesome birthday as well!

    DETAILS:

    Saturday, September 6th.

*THERE WILL BE 2 MEETING PLACES AND TIMES*

For those of us coming from OC, IE, LA, etc, we will be meeting first at BassPro Shop in Victoria Gardens at 5:15pm. The address is:
7777 Victoria Gardens Ln. Rancho Cucamonga, CA 91739
We will leave there no later than 5:45pm and caravan 75 miles up the 15fwy to the final meet area to prep for the dirt.

The second and final meeting destination will be for those already in the Mojave area or coming from Barstow, etc. We will be meeting at Peggy Sue's 50's Diner at 7:00pm. off of the 15 fwy and Ghost Town Rd. The address is:
35654 Yermo Road. Yermo, CA 92398.
From there we will have our final drivers meeting, air down, prep the trucks, and head out right around sunset which is around 7:30pm. We will be only a couple miles from dirt at that point. Below is the Peggys website for a detailed map and directions to the area:
    http://www.peggysuesdiner.com/PeggySues50sDiner-Contact.htm

*Some of us may camp overnight and head home Sunday morning. If your camping feel free to bring the your gear for 1 night worth. Since there probably wont be many of us we can make those details as the night progresses. Most people will go home after the run but your welcome to stay.

    Communications:
    HAM: 144.150
    CB: Channel 19

If you are lost/late or need to contact us please PM me, respond to this thread, or text me if you have my number. You can also contact Jerez or anyone else on the list if I dont respond but I will monitor TW closely that day.

To answer some of the FAQs:

    -Yes, this is 2wd friendly
-Yes, you can do this in a stock truck.
-Atleast 1 full size spare highly recommended
-HAM radio preferred but not required. (144.150)
-CB radio is better than nothing but not required. (Ch 19)
-Lightbar will certainly help but not required.
-Yes, LT trucks will be there and probably haul ass -- you do NOT have to keep up. Plenty of trucks including myself and Sebastian's are not built for high speed stuff and will stay behind.
-If you plan on camping, bring our own gear, food, and supplies.
-There will be a few 4x4's and several winches available just incase someone gets stuck. No need to worry we will all help each other out.
-Firearms are welcome for those staying the night.
-Several of us will be camping. Depending on how many, we may be able to stay in a cabin near Johnson Valley. Sunday morning will consist of shooting and probably a day run on the way home through johnson valley or back side of Big Bear.
...More Q&A's will be posted as they come up.

Please invite you friends to join. This invite even extends to anyone who wants to help show their support.

Probably only doing about 60 miles of it. Barstow to The dry lake bed then jump on the 15 to go home. If it goes quickly we may go back the way we came.
I did this with a couple of friends and we did the whole round trip in 3.5 hours. But this trip may run a bit slower depending on the trucks.

I might try and make this run. I need to get a spare, some added night lights, and a ham radio.
