I've been to quite a few races, theyre cool to watch except since the rules and spectating areas have changed it definitely puts a damper on the fun.

I won't be there. I'm battling this stupid head cold that is going around work. These races are pretty fun to watch. You still can get kinda close to the track with this race. I think 300 yds or something like that with MORE races. SCORE is really strict. I'd message them first before taking my advice on spectator distance. A few years back I asked the guys that did a prerun for great spots to watch and I found this amazing jump that threw trophy trucks about 10ft in the air. One guy did a straight up lawn dart on landing. It was too cool to watch instead of taking the camera out for the first lap.

You dont say? Well l dont need to be super close even though it is cool to be within a 100ft. Of course score is strict here, they have to be the professionals of professionals (until you leave the country)!

Where is this jump you speak of?

Man it's been a few years to see if I remember. I'll have to look it up on the old race map. Good chance it changed with the rains. They drove inside a wash and jumped out of it. Kinda like a step up. I'll look it up when I sit at a computer this weekend. I'd love to do a day run up there again soon.

sounds like you are talking about "The Wall"

MORE ran that section at the last Lucerne race and maybe 3 trucks even hucked it there... it was a major disappointment from a spectator perspective...

you technically cannot just plant yourself near race course... they have designated spectator areas... depending on the mood of the rangers, you may get away with spectating in open sections if you are over 150 feet away, but don't quote me on that if they decide to harass you..

I don't think tonight's race included The Wall...

Awesome thanks for the update Mike. I'm sure it got a bit stricter since I was out there a few years'm back. That sounds like the jump that I set up at. I think back in 2012 is when they jumped it. Rangers were super cool to me, but that could change each race

If it's the Wall, it hadn't been used since 2009 i think.

After Rock Pile in 2010, the whole scene changed. I get media access, so i haven't had issues, but I have seen the rangers pull people over for being too close or being in spots they weren't supposed to be, etc.

I think if you are far enough away from the edge of the race course, you should be good to go.

I have been in some good remote spots and had spectators parked well behind me with no issues.

Just make sure not to have beer or solo cups in hand and it's all good.
