*Updated Info*November 7th Ocotillo Wells Run

Throwing this out there.

So me (Daniel) and imsikotic (Randy, hope its alright if i use your real name) got to talking about suspensions and what not, when i noticed in his pic's that he's made runs out to Shell Reef and he suggested to get a local meet out there. I know that there have been meets out there in the past. So what im getting at is, is there any interest in having a meet in Ocotillo?

imsikotic is currently in Iraq and comes back late Sept, so maybe this would take place sometime in Oct.

Any info/help regarding this is welcomed on how it all ran in the past and to get this going.
Nothing is set as far date, camp spots, or meeting points.

Ok the date is set for the weekend of Nov. 7th in Ocotillo Wells.

Socalman22 (Steve) has allowed me to use his thread for reference in case some of this sounds familiar.

Ocotillo offers many different kinds of terrain to run. It is 4x2 friendly and has trails for those wanting more of a challenge.

It will be a day trip, for those of you who may have other obligations the following day or do not feel like roughing it out in the desert for the weekend. There are many places to camp. Pretty much just pick a spot and squat on it. For those of you who would be camping out there we could set up a certain place to stage camp.

The Primary meeting place will be at the Ranger Station off the 78 on Ranger Station Road in Ocotillo Wells. This will give everyone a chance to pick up maps, use the bathrooms, and have a nice meet and greet before heading out.

Campsite(For those wanting to stay the weekend)
Will be decided by the consensus for those staying

7-7:30 am for those running late. Looking at a 8 am go time! Give yourself ample time to be there on time. Want to make the most of the day!

CB channel 21 and FRS/GMRS will be 2.

Things to bring
Gas, Tow Straps, mini air compressor, tire repair kit if need be, walkie talkies, food and drinks, camping gear (for those wanting to stay out there), porn campsite could turn into a sausagefest JK!

Regardless of the outcome me and him are still gonna take a run out there.

It would definitely be a weekend thing. I will talk more with imsikotic and see how his schedule works out for when returns.

Hopefully a lot more of us will have upgraded suspension by that time. Myself included!

I will be running my spacer kit till january at least. So suspension should not be an issue. We can putz around and still have a good time. Hopefully shellreef expressway will be smooth when we get out there. As for my schedule, most weekends should be fine. Well will be able to better plan once I get home. Lets get a list started. I know its some time away but we can start making plans.

I was just saying Ocotillo as a general reference, but would be Ocotillo Wells.

I was hoping get your input on this. As far as where you camped and a general meeting place. I know those of us who have been usually have a favorite camping spot, and if the turn out for this is good then a big spot would be needed. Might be a good idea to avoid a Holiday weekend.

Right on, thanks! Keep in contact with you for help with getting this going. As far as meeting points Blu-In is always a good point or maybe even that turn off before or after the Power Plant depending on which way your coming.

I do one in julian at the pie factory just hitting santa isabel rd and then we meet at the ranger station for maps and a bathroom break before we take off. If you did it at the blue inn i will stay there and drink lol

Ah man how could i forget the ranger station. That would work great for a meeting spot.
