Oh yah, stock stereo sucks. I need to rewire the speakers in my cab because the stock wires suck too.. and add an amp.. but all that comes when i'm less lazy. Heres my head unit:



Has the ipod interface.. i love it.

I forget the model name.. but it has the ability to ADD navi and bluetooth and ipod and xm/serius and so on.. and i got a killer deal for about $300 two years ago. I'm sure its cheaper now, and i'm more sure theres better models on the market. but i liked that i could dial in the exact interior orange color and it had a volume knob. I could get the model number for ya if you'd like though!
