My wife got her orders today to report to the hospital in San Diego (Navy) in September. She wants to live in Oceanside because her brother lives in Vista and her mom lives in Oceanside.
If anyone knows of a 3+bed/2+bath house in the area that's under $350k, shoot me a link. We're going to try and buy...:D

Do a google on the MLS for the area and you can see what's available.

We are in escrow right now for a house in Vista. Should be closing in a week or two. Lots of houses for sale in that price range. Try Ziprealty.com lots of listings on there.

You do realize the distance from Oceanside/Vista to the Balboa Navy Hospital is like 30-35 miles and that is the direction of daily traffic? Allow for a 1 hour commute to and from work, if she has typical work hours... Poway/ Rancho Peñasquitos is about halfway between the hospital and Vista-Oceanside, if you want to divide the driving.

Other than that, it is beautiful here... and if you need to see snow, you can drive to it in the winter! I am in Oceanside, on the northeast side (near the Vista border)...

And thats if there are no accidents! I work in Mission Valley and if sometimes takes my co-worker who lives in Oceanside 1 to 2 hours depending on the traffic and day. The Hospital will take another 10 minutes to get to from my office.

I would look more towards the south.....that is unless she is working non-traditional hours and she could be fine.

I second what David said. The traffic conditions can be horrendous. Spending 1 hour or more in traffic twice a day can make life miserable.

I can't wait to get out there and wheel...

I just got my hardwire kit in, but I'll have it done in a few days. I need to put in my 'blinglights' I won too. I'm not sure how long they'll stay on though.
