You can do it with a jig saw or rotozip. We install 100's of them on kayaks and such every year, nothing different about this.

I have a jig saw ,any blade you reccomend? Don't know what a rotozip is.
Is there a marine shop you know of that sells 3inch deckplates?

Rotozip is a router. Any jigsaw blade should cut.

3" DP no, 4" I stock. if that fits ill pop one on the box for you for 20.00 total, just have to bring air box to my work.

A 4" plate is 6" over all OD. Never seen much for 3", you could try SD Marine Exchange, theyd be my best bet.

Think I will cut out the box with my jigsaw if not I will pm you.

I cut mine with a Dremel and a drill bit. I tried a jigsaw but it bounced around a lot trying to make the cut.
