We are a San Diego based company that strives to change the stereotypical negative customer service that many of the off road industry's companies have gained over the years. I myself was one of those people who had been jerked around by a big conglomerate off road parts retailer. After working in the industry for such companies, my partner started Downsouth Motorsports after noticing that there was a better way to do business.

We are a specialized shock retailer primarily, but we have connections for anything off road! As the performance off road industry grew and customers demanded there suspensions to not only look good but perform as well. Travel became the focus of allot of customers requests, along with it performance off road racing shocks. Everyone and their mother wanted a reservoir shock somewhere on there truck or buggy! Unlike back in the day where everyone wanted 6 chrome shocks on their 89 straight axle Toyota, these shocks had a purpose and could do more than look cool!

This is where we come in- Being that off road racing shocks are tunable, (meaning that the characteristics of the shocks can be changed internally) they are not all built the same..... many companies like to "stock" these shocks for display and order them with "popular" valving configurations. So many customers purchase these shocks and install them believing that they received the perfect shock for their ride that was going to allow them to jump the canal! Little do they know they just put a pair of reservoir shocks that were valved for the front of a Super Duty on the rear of their Ranger.

Sonny the owner of DSM noticed there were allot of unsatisfied customers and found that they were not given the proper information or even the time of day to ask the questions needed to get the proper valving. He single handed created DSM to be the company to do what none of the others were. Not 1 shock that is sold from DSM is part of an inventory, or not specifically valved for the individual. We aim to be the "go to" guys when all others have failed you. Our business has made a name for itself as being a straight forward, honest, place to do business....
