Those stoves are awesome. We got ours for a 6 month expedition we are doing and it was just super powerfull. Better than my stove at home. We actually had to switch to the denali because it was just overkill for us. But we are only cooking for 2 lol.

Anychance you are coming up this way sometime to do another run? We just did our trail run in dog valley and it was pretty epic!

Yeah, that's a good haul for a 3-5 mile trip!

I generally don't do more than 10 miles in a day, but out here the damn elevation gains are what keeps my load small. I might only do 6 miles, but there's 4000ft of vertical in there.

As was mentioned earlier in the thread, for the weight-to-booze ratio, I enjoy a good whiskey. :D

Ok, so i went to my local Bass Pro and i picked up this Ascend 20 degree synthetic mummy sleeping bag. I got it for around 75-80 dollars. This is a nice bagfor the price and does well in the 30s.....but once you get down to the 20s it starts reaching its limits. I tested it in 28 degree weather and it was cold at first but i broke out my sleeping pad and was nice and toasty. only problem with the bag is that every now and then the zipper likes to get stuck but its not a big problem. Definatly a good buy in my opinion. bag has a nice hood with draw strings on it that help keep heat in the bag. It also can with a nice compression bag. Bag packs down pretty small and weighs around 3.5 pounds. great budget bag...i plan to buy others by this brand

I'm sure companies are trying, it's probably one of their biggest complaints.

I imagine with all the other things they have to contend with (baffles, warmth collars, drawstrings, zipper covers, etc.) that worrying about snags is low on the priority list.

Eventually, I want to try something of this style, where the zipper is down the center of your chest, like a coat.

yeah. though it reallllllly sucks when you get up in the middle of the night freezing your ass off to take a piss and have to dick with the zipper, then stay awake for another 10-15 minutes so that you are warm enough to get to sleep. lol

Saw a few backpacks at Bass Pro yesterday. They are the only internal framed packs I like. Anybody have them or has used them? (I usually do week long outings which is why I opt for the bigger packs)

    North Face Terra 65- $150
    [IMG]
    Kelty Slider 65- $234
    [IMG]

I really liked the Kelty because of the pockets in the waist strap and it has anchor loops to attach extra items on the outside.

Also found the kayak I want now. Ascend fs12t. perfect amount of storage areas, comfortable, has a nice area to put my pack when I do river camping trips.

alright sweet! The one thing I liked about the N.F. is it had all kinds of different adjustment areas to really fit it to your body. I love being able to hook things on externally. Thats why it has been so hard for me to move from my exoframe Kelty. Makes everything so much easier to find at camp and to balance the weight.

ya the N.F bag is really really comfortable and it distributes the weight really well.......makes the pack feel much lighter than it is

very nice. I am going to have to go back in and try them on with some weight in the bag. That Kelty though.... I really like that bag. I have had great luck with Kelty as well. Too bad my name isn't Mr. Moneybags. I would have both. lol

exactly. I have quite a few of their products. they are pricey but it pays off. My exoframe Tioga is the first bag I have ever owned. got it when I started backpacking in 05 so its been good! Its a little beat up but still completely functional!
