Cool. I've always loved having my gear inside the tent for easy access (ropes for lashing the interior of my tent in high winds, extra clothing as a pillow or for warmth, boots/socks so no scorpions or the like get in, something to shove in between me and an animal, etc). Makes me feel safer all around. The weight of my Sierra is so low anyways that it has never mattered. I can always leave behind the fly or even some poles.

That's just me, though. Maybe it's the claustrophobia, although I did sleep in the bed of my Tacoma under the Access LE when wind gusts kicked up to 40 or so.

Lynx. Lynx. Lynx. That makes 5 votes now, right?

I always take one..have I used it? Negative, lol. I take a map usually too, but I really have never taken the time to learn how to read a map properly.

One on my Casio Pathfinder (which actually saved me once), and a typical hand-held most of the time. I always need a refresher, though.

Yeah I almost always have a map. If for some reason I don't, or I stray off on to an unmarked trail, I leave little clues along the way like a stick in the ground broken off at the top facing the way out of the trail.

Backcountry is addictive... between that and bcdod.com I have spent way too much.

I received my eno single next yesterday. Can't wait to use it! Not sure if I will sleep over night in it yet, but who knows. I have heard hammock camping is like going black!

How many people here are hammock campers?

I have a compass but rarely use it. With all of the mountains and terrain out here I usually just rely on landmarks to guide the way...

I am signed up for a class next month that covers basic use of maps & compass. Its been a while since I've had any training so a refresher would be good.

I have never heard of bcdod.com.... damn you! I use steep and cheap.. kind of the same.

I am a hammock camper on occasion. It is definitely nice, though the last few times I have woken up freezing my ass off (literally) or down at the bottom of the damn hammock. lol

that actually looks pretty nice! I want.... :spy:

edit: looking at the fly section where the door is, idk if that is screen or not.... that would suck if it didn't close up and you get caught in any kind of rain.

    ^ Nice find Aaron

Well a spent the better part of my afternoon shoe shopping. After many many laps around REI I am 99% certain that I will be getting the Lowa Bora's. They fit my foot the best and had the right combination of arch support, stiff sole, and comfort. And I think that they may be alright to snowshoe in too!

I also tried Asolos (too tall), Vasque (too narrow), Keen (weird/bad arch support).
