I started when I was 11 and quit a year ago. (25) and havent swung a club since. I lived in Orlando and had memberships to a few places playing 3-4 times per week.

I went from a lucky-to-break-100 golfer to about a 10 handicap in a year by getting fanatical about my short game and playing small-ball . I almost never hit driver and always got laughed at by the guys I played with but man, from 140, I could hit a flea off a tick's ass with my 8-iron.

Playing that much got expensive and I could always look at the half a dozen shots that I screwed up in my round like a chunked chip or a missed 4-footer that held me back. I was mentally worse shooting 83s than when I was shooting 98s because I invested so much of my time into playing. As I played less and less, I shot worse due to the lack of practice. The cycle kept going and I kept hating playing more and more. I'd go out to play and get stuck behind 3 slow groups and just turn around and go back to my car and leave the course. One day I had enough and donated my
Taylor made Rossa putter, Callaway X-22 Irons and FT-i driver to the 1st tee charity at the course. Man were they surprised!

one of these days I might pick up the game again but it will be at a time in my life when I can play a couple times a week and really enjoy the game

    cmack,

There is a free online golf game called World Golf Tour (www.wgt.com) that allows you to play St. Andrews virtually. Can you sign-up and play this course online, and then take some pictures to post here and rate the real vs the virtual course after you play?

I'm thinking about getting back into golf. Did the highschool golf team thing, but haven't played since then.

I need to go have my swing speed checked again, since I'm a bit of a different size since high school :x

Anyone have any suggestions for a mid level set of irons and woods that I can start playing on again? I've been looking into a set of callaway x-2x Iron's, but I'm not dead set on them if there's something better for the money. As far as drivers go, I'm a bit lost...

I just had a great golf weekend.

Friday night my new bride and I played in a club couples league tournament. This was her first ever golf competition. We won by 3 strokes with a +1 gross for the evening. I couldn't miss a putt. It was like the scene from Caddyshack. Even ones I did miss, they stopped close for easy tap ins.

Then I went out alone on Sunday and shot my best score of my life. A 4 over par 74 at the Corning Country Club!

    What a weekend!!!

I play Cleveland CG7 stiffs and just bought a Ping G15 stiff 9 degree driver.

    Life is good!
