Project (a)? I've never heard of it. Maybe I'll try hitting it a bit when spring comes. No golf here in the winter :(. I haven't liked Taylormade since they got rid of the Penta series. That high end Penta was killer even though the cover wore off fairly quick.

I've really liked the new ProV1 but I'm debating going back to the new Nike because I was playing my best rounds with that ball. I felt more control with my distance on the Nike RZN Platnium (I think that was what I was playing, I'd have to check my bag) over the ProV1. Plus I won a long drive contest with that ball (just short of 335 yards measured) which is excellent for a higher spin package.

They are designed for amateurs and "help around 30 yrds to the green".

I'd never buy a recycled ball. You never know when you get one that graded high visually but is full of water from being in a lake somewhere too long. I have a high enough swing speed that hitting a water ball can causing shoulder issues for me for weeks. I agree there's advantages to the ProV1, but a lot of other balls have made it there. Try a B330 if you have a high swing speed like me. I can pound that sucker a mile and make it stick the the green. My problem is I can't get used to the feel. That new Nike ball feels good and I feel it's longer than the ProV1 without losing green control.

Anyways that's my two cents lol. Take it or leave it. Like I said, find a good ball and stick with it. Similarly to clubs, if you can learn to play a ball that fits well with your game there's no reason to assume the ProV1 is going to give you much more.

BTW I love free golf. Luckily I work in Ag so I get out at least 5-7 times a year for free events. Well, the company pays but that's free to me . It's awesome when you win the longest drive and most entertaining team. There's nothing like walking away from a free day of golf with a $200 gift card and a free Ogio Tournament bag!

I use to buy Pro V1xs and then I was losing them too much so I stopped. I shot in the low to mid 90s the ProV1xs feel good with my wedge shots and putting but I can't shape a shot. The Project(a) balls have a good feel for me and I feel confident with them.

My brother-in-law gave me a gift card to Knetgolf.com which sells refinished balls. Normally I wouldn't buy used balls but I figured I've got the card. So I picked up 2 dozen Pro V1x for my upcoming trip. I'll report back how they hit

I find the ProV1x sort of silly. They give you a bit of extra distance by sacrificing spin on the greens. For me that doesn't ever make sense unless you're trying to out do a buddy or something with a similar drive and don't mind losing the strokes close in.

Shot a 91 today with the refinished balls. Didn't notice much loss with them. I was happy with the 91. It rained basically the while day and the course was pretty wet.

The soap opera that has become Tiger Woods’s life took another shadowy turn Wednesday when Woods announced he was taking an indefinite leave of absence from competitive golf to work on his floundering game.
The announcement, made on Woods’s website, was not unexpected. Woods has been playing the worst golf of his career, and he withdrew from last week’s tournament with a back injury.
But the lack of details about how long he will be sidelined — and his comment that the leave is not related to last year’s back surgery — created yet another tempest for Woods, this time surrounding what is at the root of his temporary exit.

Played first round of the year and shot an 82. Not bad. Way better than I expected for not playing since November. I was driving 290+ and straight. Glad I finally figured out my slice with the driver. Irons were solid, I really need to work on my chipping my 56* I just can't hit with.

Nothing even close. Looking at what Bandon offers and what portland has, portland has shitty courses. Especially city ones. Probably Pumpkin is like Bandon trails. Narrow, hilly at times. But trails is still a links course so tight lies and huge greens.

One of the reasons we all shot bad at Trails was we didn't know how to play off of that type of grass. You can't scoop like we do in portland. You have to hit down on it.

I lived in Newport, Oregon for four years and loved making my way down there to play! One of the best courses I have ever played on!

It's definitely worth the drive. Especially if you are a golfer. It's like golf mecca.

Understand that. If you plan a trip down there January-March is cheapest. And if you stay at the resort you get a discount on the first 2 rounds I believe.
