    Kessel was very productive until this stretch. One of the best scorers in the league between 2010 and the end of 2014. Really the Leafs gave up Seguin (who loves to party to much), Hamilton (juries still out on this one) and Rask (good #1) to get him so yes, it was a loss. Would TO be a winner with those players? Probably not.

    He needs to move on and lose 20 lbs. That last part is the most important part. Much like other players that struggle with conditioning I think if Kessel would buy into a Gary Roberts style off season program he could become an unstoppable force in the league. Lots of skill, not enough brains to do what is necessary to win.

    Conditioning is a common knock on Byfuglien. He is in better shape this year, and it has translated into better play. That said he still looks tubby when you see him in a t-shirt. Some dudes just are always gonna look less than svelte

    That's why I said 20 lbs. He isn't fat, just not at his optimal weight. I think a lot of the reason why Kessel only has bursts of speed is because he is hauling around that extra 20 lbs all game.
