im in beta as well, been a WoW player since beta, but quit about 8 months ago, already preordered the game, so kinda pumped, even ordered all my parts to my new rig this week

 

So ya i'm gonna be preordering this next time I can get to the city! Also thank you for naming the thread appropriately so using the search function was easy

 

I've been watching TOR for a long time (2009 or so). There is a beta test going this weekend, and there is supposed to be one more before launch on 12/20. I was invited to the first 2 beta test weekends they had, starting back in September, plus this weekend. Bioware is also going to allow people up to 5 days early access to TOR based on when you reserved your copy of TOR and redeemed the pre-order code.

I'm pretty excited about this going live. I played WoW for many years, and like most everyone, I quit after Cataclysm. I know a lot of people are going to say TOR is WoW in space, and there is a lot of similarity in the mechanics of the game, but the voice acting and story is a lot more fleshed out than in WoW. And plus, I'm a much bigger fan of Star Wars than I ever was of War Craft.

I'm still up in the air as to which side I'm going to play. Previous weekends were spent with the Republic Trooper & Jedi. I'm working on the Sith Empire this weekend. I think I might turn to the dark side. I'm really liking the Sith Inquisitor I've been playing.

I played the beta this weekend also, as a Bounty Hunter. I'm going in as a Trooper so I wanted to start fresh when I start playing on Dec 15. Also, this is my first MMO, so if it's like WOW, I don't care

 

I played for a few hours yesterday. I like the opportunity to choose your responses to the people talking with you. It makes it feel a little more immersive.

 

Wow... what the... fuck... I have been out of the MMORPG world for a while, but damn... I do not think I have seen a Star Wars like this before. Not even Unleashed.

It looks like Star Wars meets Dragonball or some shit... Damn... If the fights can be 1/4 of what the videos were... this should be amazing.

 

I played a Bounty Hunter over the weekend too. Made it up to level 13 or so. I love the Death From Above attack. I played the Trooper up to 16 on a previous Beta weekend, and I was going to go Trooper for my main too, but after this weekend I think I'm literally going to the Dark Side with the Bounty Hunter.

I agree. The story is definitely the best part, and good voice acting makes being involved in the story a lot more fun.

Ehh, the combat is not all that different from WoW, IMO. The biggest difference is that there is no auto attack, like WoW. If you want to attack something, you have to push a button to execute an attack. Other than that, combat is pretty much the same with the cool down timers and all.

 

In that case, all my sudden interest has died.

 

Early access has started.
Got my invite to early access this morning.
Logged on and made up my characters.
Now I just have to make it through the work day and I can start kicking some butt.

 

Put in my EAC today, hopefully I can get a code tomorrow morning and download the client all day

 

You should be able to download the client right now, before you get your invite. I got an email last week with a link to downloading the client, even though I didn't get access until Tuesday.

is this a continuation or a sequel to the knights of the old republic from the original x-box?

that was one of my favorite games ever lol. i can't lie though i'm so stuck on sky rim i can't imagine taking any more time out of my life for a video game

The Old Republic takes place about 400 years after Knights of The Old Republic 2. They do talk about what happened in KTOR 1&2 for back story, but TOR is not a direct sequel.

 

This game download is going to be the death of me. Waited all day yesterday for 12 gigs to download, finished, then errored 93% through installation. Tried to repair and it started downloading the file again. Left it all night woke up to some fucking errors on my computer and the internet had shut off. Now i have to wait for the last 4.75 gigs to download. ASKJHDALFJHBGLAKFG

 

Level 34. Best game ever. Jedi Sage
