Any Private Pilots here?

I have been in the process of obtaining my private pilots license the past few months. I was just wondering if there was anyone else here that has their private pilots license and if you have any advice for me? I only have 11 hours so I have just begun.

Do you have a specific plane you like to fly? This is what I am training in. Not a big fan of high wing planes.

Practice ,practice, practice. And i don't mean in the plane. Mental practice for procedures is very important. Going over things on the ground over and over makes a big difference in the air.

I'm type rated in 5 different aircraft with a float rating.
Although I'm not current I still go over procedures in my head from time to time.
A headset with a P.T.T. switch keeps you from fumbling for a mike. Some of the planes i flew were not equipped.

Always check for your next emergency landing area.

I like high wing planes because you see the land better.
150 152 172 etc.

ATP with 6k hours.

Stick with it.
Fly as often as you can for your first fifty hours.
Trust in your instructor, but always be skeptical.
Fly with several instructors and other pilots before your check ride.

Memorize the following: It is better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air, than in the air wishing you were on the ground.

Safety before everything.

Lol.. Just felt left out .. As far as advice.. More than ever with costs so high.. Do as much procedural "chair flying" as you can stand.. I've watched it pay dividends over and over again.. Use sims, ftd's all of it.. Much of the learning need not be in the airplane... The real thing is much more fun though!

Anyone a helicopter pilot? I would like to get my license, but having to learn on a sim is as close as I'll get for now.

US Army UH60 Black Hawk pilot since 1996; 4000ish Hrs, also a private pilot flying single engine land for a little recreation.

To the poster requesting helo info: US Army starts a helicopter class every two weeks. Contact your local Army recruiter about becoming a Warrant Officer and entering flight training. If he acts like he doesn't understand or tries to sell you on something else, find another recruiter. The Army has 4 different main helos and a few specialty helos. They also have a fixed wing fleet consisting mainly of Beech Super King Airs, and some other planes like the Cessna Citation V and a few Gulfstreams. Check it out!!!!
