    I want to buy my daughter some ice skates for her birthday,
    shes turning 6... size 13 youth

    Should I buy her hockey Skates? Or Figure Skates? for beginner

    Used is fine too, I been looking on eBay.....They will be used to skate on the frozen lake and our local skating rink.

    I would say hockey skates because they are much easier for learning the basics than figure skates are.

    I started on hockey skates, and at first they are more difficult or so they told me, because of the curve on the front. In the long run hockey skates help you over figure skates though. But i have never tried figure skates.
