I've been looking into buying a helmet cam for when I ski and snowmobile. Did lots of reading off the internet but am interested in any real world experience. I see lots of interests here that folks may come across the use of them (sand dune riding, motox, the track). Leaning toward a VHoldR. Post up any suggestions or experience please! Thanks!

We used to video our runs on the bikes, and a couple of track days, when I sold the bikes, I would use the camera to attach near a problem, or suspicious noise in my truck and go for a drive. Then get back and watch the video to see the problem. I cant find it right now to tell you want kind it is.

    Thanks for the link EAMonkey!

Good info, I like this setup and how it can be used in other applications as well, the VHOLDR is pricey & wireless but also not as versitile and battery life in cold temp is hosed unless you use hand warmers. You do get what you pay for and would like to use it to produce some nice vids for friends and such. Thank you for the input!

Great idea, never thought of using it for the truck, more reason to buy! Thanks for those input, if you remember let me know thank you!

I just got one and it works Fkin great its only 200 bucks and its called goprocamera.com check it out, worked way better than I thought it would, when I figure out how to edit my video to make it smaller I'll post it. I ride dirt bikes and did some really gnarly single track yesterday.

aww! they just came out with an HD one!

I have the MotoSport Wide. Works really great. Use it Dirtbiking lots. Comes with a tonne of mounting options. Waterproof, shockproof. Takes decent audio.

Only complaint is with the Wide Angle. Takes great video, but as you get further away, things tend to get small quickly, due to the fisheye lense. However, gives a GREAT sense of speed and great Field of View. If you are taping other people, the Wide isn't so great, but if you are just taping YOUR actions, the wide is awesome.

^^ thanks sock & all others for replies ^^

Today I got my camera as a belated birthday gift :woot:
Its a Go Pro Hero HD. It has a ton of mounts for handlebars, snowboards, helmets, etc. Waterproof & up to 30-60fps HD, 127 to 170 degree field of vision or it'll shoot continuous 5mp stills. The go pro web site has some great examples of what this camera can do. Can't wait to take try it out. pics

definatly. just got my go pro wide and it is amazing. for the mounts on my helmet i used pl-premium just in case the 3m it comes with doesnt hold in the cold for snowboarding. ive hit it on branches, missed the landing on some tables and it doesnt even look like its been smacked against stuff.

go pro also sells extra mounts for $10 for like 5 extra mounts.
