Look for a used 870 police magnum.. around here they go for between $200-$300. I've been looking for one myself.

Nothing over 250 IMO unless it has "extras" with it...

    This.

Cinco Grande frequently puts the "Home Security Combo" on sale for $200.
The combo includes both 18" and, I believe, 24" barrels.

The 870 is in the same range as the Mossberg 500. Nothing special but goes bang every time. Awesome entry level shotgun, plenty of aftermarket parts and accessories available, and anyone who's ever done any work on a gun knows how to work on them.

But new sale prices vary depending on the options. Both the Mossy 500 and Rem 870 go for $200 to $600 depending on the model.
