The problem with the Raiders is...they're still trying to figure out what "Being a Raider" MEANS in 2014.

This is the first time in a long damn time good ol 'Zombie Al isn't directing the ship. The 'new' raiders need to figure out who and what they are themselves before they can market that to the world.

Reggie Mckenzie is pretty smart. I'd say give him a couple-three seasons to get shit in order and stock the roster with a draft-and-develop system like he learned in Green Bay,

Removing him and/or the coach would be VERY counter-productive. Let the men work.

I couldn't have said it any better!

As a Raider fan its frustrating having to see them start from scratch every single season, but I feel good about Mckenzie and I do believe that in a few more seasons they will become a more competitive team. I am excited to see some improvements this year.

There's a reason some really, really good teams have front offices trained under Bob Harlan and Ron Wolfe.

*protip: this is chiefly Green Bay and Seattle right now, in case you were wondering

Reggie is damn near this good, but there was a LOT of shit to excise, bad contracts to get out of, dead cap space to outlast. Another year will have them in the clear....they are mostly there now.

I don't know how good the coach is. Frankly I don't much care. But Reggie is a smart guy and knows his job well, and if they can put the system in place, it can work. We have proof of this already in other clubs.

It isn't easy, but it can happen. But starting over every year isn't the answer when the rot is at the top. Ask the Browns or the Jags or, now, the Cowboys.

You have to take the long term into account, you HAVE to be hard enough to cut them before they're starting to be really bad, and you have to sometimes lose a player you really, really want to keep, because the whole is greater than the sum of the parts. And that's HARD.

That means you have to let Brett Farve walk when he's still got 5 years of potential playing time left and start a n00b. When you have to tell an 11 time pro bowl center to sit the fuck down on the bench so a second year walk-on undrafted kid from Indiana can play instead, cause he can no longer run block for shit.

That ain't easy. But it is necessary.

It's tough to start a career as a qb without illegally video taping your opponent.

Perhaps if you started following a decent team, this wouldn't be an issue for you.

Mayhap you should get away from the NFC Least. Go to where there are some good teams that win on occasion and have non-batshit leadership?

Mediocrity. Because all it takes to be "America's Team" is just....average.

Thing is, I don't blame them for the whole "America's Team" bullshit. They didn't start it.

    ...

But they ran with it. That's where I start to taste bile.

Wasn't asking for your opinion on teams. See, here is the thing, unlike 90% of the people out there, I have been a fan of one single team my entire life, and unlike the others, I STAY a loyal fan through thick and thin, because THAT sir is what a TRUE fan is. One that stands behind their team no matter WHAT happens. I have been a loyal Cowboy fan since 1976, when I first started watching football. That is 38 years loyal! How many of you can say the same, or would be able to say the same after 38 years? It's not about being a fan of the team that wins. We call those fair-weather-fans. Always a fan when their team is winning, but when their team is losing, suddenly they jump to another team.

As a lifer Packer fan from that neck of the woods, I understand and appreciate your loyalty. In your case, I feel for you, having that wacko crypt-keep wannabe as a "GM".

The up side is, at some point, he'll die off. The possible down side from there is...who replaces him.

He needs to put his ego aside and realize he doesn't have a football mind and hire someone who does. I don't think that will happen though

Nope. The only one I can think of that would have even a remote chance of influencing Jurrah out would his kid, and Stephen is a spineless, simpering simpleton when it comes to his dad.

So, I'm sorry amigo, you're fucked for the forseeable future. And I don't like giving bad news to folks.

LOL.. Pit will not finish 11-5.. as much as I'm a Steelers fan, they are in their dying years. Couple more years till the rebuilding years and then a few more after that to being competitive again

I got this result by just walking through the 17 weeks and picking games.

I don't feel like they'll win 11 either, but they have an easy as shit sked this year. Take a peek

If they split with CLE and CIN, and lost to the Colts, Saints...well, shit....Panthers? That's 11-5

Yeah. The thing is he needs to back the hell off and let the coach do his job! JJ has always micromanaged the Cowboys since Landry left. If a good head coach could get in and be left alone, I think the Boys would have a better chance.

I never put ANY faith in things like that. There is no way to predict injuries, days when players are sick, or any other VERY common issue that revolves around the players. And I don't see Washington having that good of a season either.
