    With Kobyashi and Massa's cars going out due to contact , that means only 6 cars retired due to technical issues , that's not that unreliable for the first outing IMO

    However, having reviewed technical data provided by Caterham, the stewards determined that the incident was ‘caused by a serious technical failure completely outside the control of the driver’.

    Caterham have been directed to work with the FIA technical delegate Jo Bauer to determine the cause of the systems failure.

    Kobayashi explained on Twitter that no rear brakes had been the problem, adding: "Sorry to Felipe but was not my mistake."

    The fact he's probably not going to remain in a medically induced coma the rest of his life is a great sign. Even if it's a finger lifting or his eyelids fluttering, it all indicates there is higher brain function. At this point, the most encouraging signs are probably coming from an EEG, a brain scan looking at his function.
