haha, yeah, brushless and lipo is the way to go!! But for a couple of bucks more, you could have upgraded to a beastly nitro motor. I love nitro, even the smell gets me going, LOL. But yeah, i am trying really hard to get into this monster 1/5 scale gasoline hawg, LOL.

I actually have a jeep now. Imagine that.
I have to disagree. My savage pwned all t-maxx it came near. and i wasn't fixing suspension parts constantly like my buddies were. Only thing i didn't like about my savage is what a bitch it was to take apart.

maybe you should build a bitchin brushless set up....I said the same thing about nitro "nothing better, faster stronger, more bad ass" than a gas powered toy. Then I got into 1/18th and built a mini-lst and rc-18t both brushless. i love it when i can run the whole day continuously off four batteries (swapping running and charging cycles) and never have to tune a thing.

Yeah maintenance is hella easier, and you don't have to adjust for weather all of the time.

You can get sealed components to go through water, i think Traxxas is actually offering it as a standard on the new T-Maxx's

Ok guys, school me on the electric setups. I bought my nitro savage a couple years ago, because I had electrics as a kid and they sucked. Battery life, charge time, no where near the power, ect. I thought that nitro was the "cream of the crop", but I'm guessing the electrics have come a long way.

    What's brushless and lipo?

    Thanks in advance.

brushless is a type of motor. They're "better" I'm just now getting into it also, but I'm no expert.

lipo is a lithium polymer battery. They have a higher capacity and lower weight.

Well the efficiency of the ESC's have come a long way, they now can handle the power of new highly powerful battery packs, as well as run more than one motor efficiently, and not overheat. The saying goes that your electric car is only as good as the batteries is true, and batteries have come a long way. Nitro is the way to go IMHO since you can just keep running anywhere, just pop the top and fill up while its running, and keep going, plus its bad ass, and i fell like i am in total control of the car, down to adjusting when i want the torque to kick in, and where i want the max power to be at through the band.

HPI Savage 4.6 RTR - http://www.hpiracing.com/kitinfo/867/ That's the new model of what I own. :D:D:D

The main question is, what do you want it for. You said car. Do you want it for racing, backyard bashing, on the street, ect... They're just like vechicles to a point, you gotta pick what you want to use them for. The learning curve for a Nitro is more advanced than for electrics. Find a good hobby shop, and spend some time there asking questions. They will gladly share there knowledge, and if they don't go somewhere else.

If you just starting out, try to get a package deal that contains everything from the start. You'll save some $$$.

Yeah really depends on what you want it for, savage is a good monster truck for bashing, if you want to race you should go with a 1/8 scale 4wd buggy, there are many choices for the street but HPI makes dominant street cars, just fooling around you can get a truggy or stadium truck(2wd). Really depends on what you want it for.

I had one of the old TRX pro.15 T-MAXX's and then ended up with a Savage .21 and a little electric buggy(cant remember the model), sold em all. Then after a year or two I got back into it with a used emaxx that was a bit abused. I cleaned it up real nice and this was the outcome
    HPIM0417_be433446ea7c9991f411fe5001f7e205171d1484.jpg
I sold it last spring due to the amount of money I found myself constantly dumping into it. Just couldn't afford it with college. It was a fun and sweet truck though.
