from all of the reviews I read, it's a Chinese copy of a really nice boat (not sure what it's a copy of). but supposedly, the hull and all of the dimensions/layout are perfect for a nice performing boat, and the rigging is where they cut costs. I've already re-rigged two sailboats, so re-rigging this one should be cake, and have me up to speed in a relatively short amount of time.

with the hull extending beyond the tip of the boom a decent amount, it should make for some a good go-pro mounting point and perspective

Really windy, and I didn't have storm sails. boat took off like a rocket, but had so much sail up, that it could neither tack nor jibe. wind was blowing parallel to the beach, so the boat was stuck sailing on a beam reach straight away from me. only took a couple of minutes before I could no longer see it. bay is a few miles wide at this point, so I don't doubt that it was sitting on the opposite shore line before dark. lesson learned, I'm gonna break out the label maker and have my name and number on all boats form this point forward.

Sounds like you need a gps tracker as well. That must have been a shitty feeling watching it sail away.

Need to order a couple new lipos for it, and lots of spares. It will break at some point that weekend.

We bring our Axial SCX10 on the road with us to almost every event.
R/C cars are just way too much fun and there are definitely some nice ones on this thread!

a little pavement action — we love the stance on this thing!

We just started a new thread with quite a few photos of ours if anyone is interested:

Awesome Pictures! Stoked to see what you come up with building your own aluminum parts!
Drop any photos and custom made products for these off on our Axial SCX10 thread if you get a chance!

    Fun weekend of RC.

fried the brushless ESC in my twin hammers, broke (and upgraded) the E-Jato, sailed the old boat, and made good progress building the new one.

last weekend, the had a flying jomp, but the landing, while perfect, was just too much for how high it went. snapped the shock tower off, and bent the shock shafts on both rear shocks. solution was a stronger shock tower and more travel. the more travel would not be ideal for track use, but seeing as I no longer have a track near me, it's a good thing for the immediate future.

new shocks (resis are a PITA to fill without having air in the system)

lots more drop than stock. by using the outer mounting point on the LCA, the chassis still bottoms out before the shock does.

new breakage from the weekend was a tire casualty. I've started running the jato on 3S. ton of fun, but the 2.8'' badlands just couldn't hold up.

Any suggestions on a good 2.8'' tire? choices seem to be fairly limited. doesn't need to be as aggressive as the badlands.

the new sailboat is pretty cool. rigging is junk (as all of the reviews said), but I'm almost finished re-rigging it with some quality line.

I'm actually impressed with the hull (aesthetically). it's a fiberglass hull. I wanted fiberglass over plastic, in case I ever wanted to change up the shape/contour, or had to make repairs. I thought the carbon fiber on it was just going to be some crappy stickers. turns out they actually hydrodip the entire hill, and then the yellow deck is masked off and painted.

the other problem people have had with it is that they say the bulb ont he keel is undersized for the sail area. manufacturer recommends adding roughly 2.8 lbs of ballast to the keel in the form of lead shot, or misc. nuts and bolts. you then epoxy over the gill hole and you have a ballasted keel. the problem people are having is that the keel is too small to hold enough weight (many people desire more than the 2.8 lb minimum, but can't physically fit more ballast inside the bulb. looks like most folks are using #8 bird shot to fill theirs. #8 lead shot has a 2.28 mm diameter. that's not a ton of void space, but it's enough to barely make the 2.8 lb minimum. the simple solution that no one seems to be using, is lead "shot" from scuba weights. the shot contained in most scuba weights (designed to be space efficient) has a 1mm diameter. I emptied the entire 3 lb sack into the bulb, and am only 3/4 full. I think I have a 2 lb sack sitting around that i'll cut open to finish the job. should be sailing later this week.

Couple of shots from the other sailboat yesterday afternoon. really liking this 70 degree weather.

raced on slicks for the first time this weekend. It was definitely a different experience. Really fun though!
