Yeah that's what I was thinking but still I want so bad a gas powered heli. The only thing I can remember was my friend getting one in middle school taking it out for the first flight and watching it disappear in the distance..lol

Hmm, ok. I was wanting to build a quad/hex to carry a camera up in the air to take photos, so basically go up, maybe move a little bit, then come back down. Problem is all my camera stuff is heavy, and add the weight of a gimbal and the thing won't be going anywhere. I'm thinking I should probably start small with something like a DJI Phantom and a GoPro just to become familiar with it though. Plus that way if it crashes I'm not out $6k worth of drone/camera equipment.

    It's the wife's T4R so it's stock
Most of us use GoPros for little quads, and then mirrorless (nex5/7) for hexas, and then octos for dslrs and blackmagics or red epcis.

I've only flown 3d helis except for the one below. It was docile and a joy to fly compared to my old Blade 450... (pic from internet BTW and not the one I flew)

Coptorworks AF25B... 25lb payload capacity, 70 pound max takeoff.

Yes flying FPV from my phone. I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 so nice big screen. Never had any issues with it, except for range for wifi on FPV extender. It only getting about 900 feet range. Gonna fix that tonight. I bought an external wifi antenna that is supposedly going to give it 3000 foot range. Stay tuned ;)

I like... It's also flybarless so will be a bit more twitchy and difficult to control (probably why it's under advanced helis on their website)

yeah, I don't want a flybar one. I'd rather break some parts learning, but have a nice, advanced machine when I get used to it, than have an easy one that I get bored with after a while.

I've gotten pretty good at flying the phantom in manual mode (no auto-stabilization), so I figure a flybarr-less heli will be similar in nature.

So I did the mod last night. It was actually pretty easy to do. Gonna fly it today after work and see how it does (Fingers crossed)!

Here is the multirotor my team and I have been working on for the last couple of months.

    8- turnigy 5000kv motors
    85A ESCs
    13in props
Not quite sure of the exact battery specs at the moment
    KK 2.1 flightboard

We are looking for around 25lbs of payload after deducting the frame and and drive train. We have a xompetition March 28 so hopefully we can have it tuned by then.

    pretty much an H8

We have to pass through a 28 inch hoop for size restrictions, so it will pass through the hoop lengthwise, having a max width with props at 27 inches

Sneaky sneaky... do they set limits on what controller you can use?

Nope, but we chose the KK2.1 due to the fact that it is pre-programmed for our layout
