Hopefully I can get a little help here. I want to get a hardtrail mountain bike and need options. Don't want to invest a lot of money just to find out I don't really like riding as much as I think I do. I've found a few bikes for around $400 and seems like thats what I want to spend.

Here are some of the bikes I've seen:
    -Trek 3500 Disc
    -Giant Revel1
    -Fuji Nevada 1.9 Disc
    -Felt Six 80

Which one should I go for or are there any other bikes with better components for the same price?

    Thank You!!!

I had a Trek they are really nice mountain bikes. Look at the weight, the lighter the better especially when climbing rocky hills. Your best bet is to sit on them, ride them if you can to decide like addicted said.

i was worried about the same thing, paying too much for one and find out that i not like it would suck. SOOO i went on craigslist and found a new used one that someone bought and decided they didnt like riding and i bought it for half the price he payed for it. Craigslist would be your best bet.

Look up crosslakesales on ebay. They're clearing out a bunch of Marin stock for great deals - about %50 retail for BIN, better if you can snipe one. Warranties and <$50 shipping.

Whichever has the better components is the one I'd buy.

    Truth.

Though a good feeling bike makes a world of difference and you can upgrade components. I bought a Gary Fisher Wahoo disc in 08. I upgraded to an adjustable air fork with lockout, new seat and BB7 brakes. Simple things really do make it more fun. In retrospect, the money i spent on upgrades, i could have used to buy a better bike in the beginning.

Giant bicycles sells frames to other bicycle companies therefore giving them the ability to hang better components on their bikes if you are looking in the $400 range I would go with a Giant that you like
