My point was to help protect people from themselves in the future. No matter who is right or wrong, if you are mandated to stay in your car it will help save your life. There are many other things that are in place to do that same thing. Soft walls, HANS devices, etc. Racing needs to take a look at this too.

Maybe I'm in the minority, but I believe there's no need for rules like that. As if that would've kept Ward from doing what he did last night anyway. I guarantee he wasn't thinking of what could happen; he was upset and wanted Stewart to know it. A surge of emotion like he had is a hell of a thing. He also was not thinking that Stewart would do what he did, either. As I said, drivers have been voicing displeasure with one another after an accident forever. It's just never come to this before.

It is unfathomable that there are those that are defending Stewart. There are no accusations to dispute. This is as cut and dry as it gets. There is a video showing Stewart's car hitting Ward, Ward is dead. End of story.

The only discussion is whether or not it was intentional. And if anyone honestly believes it was intentional, they need their head examined. If Stewart was truly going to murder someone, he's had a 20-plus career in which he could've done it already. There is no question that it was accidental, but it doesn't change the fact that Stewart's temper got the best of him and now there is a dead kid because of it.

Great article that was written by someone with a brain who isn't making stupid comments without knowing the facts. Tony did nothing wrong to cause the wreck and he didn't even know the guy wrecked until he came around the track to spot the crashed car. There was no reason for Tony to be upset at that point, so everyone's hot headed theory makes zero sense. I guarantee you Tony didn't even see this guy running at him until it was too late. The last thing you expect is a guy running down the track at you when you using his car as a reference while still traveling 80+ while off the throttle. Look at the video and you will see another car in front of Tony, which was blocking his view as he was turning left. Yes his car veered right, after he already ran over the guy causing his car to jump right. For those of you who don't know, sprint cars have no radio communication and there are no spotters giving you info. Your view is also restricted and you can mainly see what's in front of you and that's it. I 'm not some Tony Stewart fan backing him, I just have common sense and I've been around racing all my life. I'm also not a psychic, but when Tony speaks for the first time, I bet he says that he never saw the guy. Tony isn't a murderer, a criminal, he won't be on trial and he won't be banned from Nascar.

You don't get it! why would Tony be mad if he didn't even know the guy wrecked until he drove upon the incident? Ask yourself that. Tony was racing and he slid up in front of the guy(which is how you pass in Sprint car racing) and there was slight contact made.

There"s millions of geniousses who never even heard of a sprint car until last night.

Using "common sense" and having "been around racing all my life" also, it's not out of the realm of possibility to think that Stewart was being "hot headed". If you poll NASCAR fans and ask who's the most hot-headed driver in the garage, you'd be hard-pressed to find someone whose first answer isn't "Tony Stewart". Also, there have been several instances in which a driver uses his car to intimidate a driver running at him on foot.

If Tony saw him at the last second and he was very close to the front of the car, trying to avoid hitting him would likely swing the back end right out on the dirt.

Is it wrong for me to bask in every moment of his self-destruction?

If it is, I don't want to be right.

Tony Stewart issued a statement Sunday about the fatal sprint car accident he was involved with Saturday night. Kevin Ward Jr., 20, was killed when he was struck by Stewart's car during a caution at Canandaigua Motorsports Park.
Stewart's statement: “There aren’t words to describe the sadness I feel about the accident that took the life of Kevin Ward Jr. It’s a very emotional time for all involved, and it is the reason I’ve decided not to participate in today’s race at Watkins Glen. My thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends and everyone affected by this tragedy.”

So I heard they figure out the problem with Jeff Gordon's car shutting off. They failed to get it into the dealer and have the ignition switch recall done.

That wreck though.... Wierd seeing the rear end carried away on a separate truck than the actual car.

And btw, Danica Patrick did an awful job, never let off the gas even though her spotter was in her ear yelling wreck, she could've really hurt Newman sitting in the middle of the track

Okay then, temper, hot headed, mad or whatever people keeping bring up.
Tony wasn't wrecked, he was making the pass and Ward essentially wrecked himself by not getting out of the throttle and letting Tony pass. Tony was just racing and people keeping bringing up the hot headed factor when there was no reason for him to be hot headed, is the point I keep making. As a driver you aren't looking for another human running at you half way down the track, you are looking at the cars and everything happens very quick. They also rarely use the brakes on sprint cars and they don't stop or turn on a dime.

I think you got me confused with someone else's comments. I am actually a smoke fan followed him since he came up. I think they will find inconclusive evidence that Tony did anything wrong or deliberate unless he did try and swing his car around to flip up a little mud or something and he would have to admit that himself. Only he knows his intent.
