Planning to take my future Tacoma on some prospecting trips across the country. I enjoy a variety of sports and hobbies, but for some strange reason, I got bitten by the gold bug while camping in California a few years back. Like to hear from like minded gold and/or rock hounds. I usually don't find anything, but hiking and shooting pics is a great stress reliever!:tumbleweed:

Never dug or prospected, but there is an abundance of Quartz on my property and I have heard Quartz and Gold are usually found together.:notsure:

    Boone,

NC is definitely in the gold belt, which also runs through S. Carolina too. I was in Charlotte today for a quick visit to a friend. Love the state!:)

It's true, gold can be found in the veins of quartz. However, you pretty much have to crush and destroy the quartz to find out. It might be worth more to just get the large quartz pieces. Pure quartz can be worth $300 per pound. Crush that to nothing and don't find gold and you just shot yourself in the foot.

I plan to head up toward Rock Hill, SC where there are some outcroppings of quartz to do some sniffing around. Of course, one has to look for gold where gold has been found.
