I guess word on the street is Yeti is stopping the production on the 66 altogether cause everyone wants 27 or 29ers. Which is fine with me because I got this bike for a steal and hopefully will alow me to get some carbon wheels to go along with her for cheap.
The 1x11 is awesome man!! Nice getting rid of the front der, while still having a full range of gears... Helps keep weight down. I recently swapped my rotors to ICE Techs, and plan on changing out the front tire from wire bead Minion DHF to a folding bead DHF.. That alone should shed a bit of weight.. Next up will be the new e*13 TRS-R wheels when they come out. When it's all said and done, I expect her to be around 27.5.. She's current'y a hair under 28.5...

Yep, heard the same thing.. Honestly, I've ridden 650b, and didn't notice a big difference at all.. So I am just fine with 26.. Before I picked up this bike I demo'd a Pivot Mach 6 carbon for a week, and it was an amazing bike.. However I don't think it was because of the larger wheels...

Awesome, I would have loved to get a 1x11 but didn't ask if competitive cyclist could throw one in instead of the xt. Oh well I'm just happy to have the shadow plus derailleur which makes everything so quiet. But yeah I love this bike so far. Climbing is effortless and the downhill makes me smile like a kid.

This may be old news here but I was suprised to hear it, Giant is going to all 650b.

I've narrowed down my bike #15 purchase vs. build to 1 of these 2.....carbon hardtail or aluminum FS, both pretty much same SLX setups with same Fox fork

http://www.giant-bicycles.com/en-us/...specifications

http://www.giant-bicycles.com/en-us/...specifications

Really torn about choice....I have an aluminum FS but no carbon hardtail. I have no 29er & don't see the need for 650b regardless of it's growing popularity. Too close to 26's in wheel size. I want something more different. Kinda fancying that Fox'd up FS but the lighter carbon HT with same Fox fork is really beckoning. The FS has the Fizik seat and 2.25's, both have Schwalb Racing Ralph tires, the HT has XT cranks instead of SLX. Just gonna be XC single track moderate terrain ridden by 50+ guy and no Red Bull Xgames stunt shit.........and both are available at killer inside deal at cost within $60 of each other. Not gonna be 2800. If the HT just had the Fiziik seat or the FS had the XT cranks, dammit can't decide.........Anyone got 2 cents to help make up my mind?

Oh yeah, my buddy has both in his demo trailer so the test rides will most likely be determining factor but still welcome opinions. I will also give the 650b's a ride but unless there is some supernatural wow factor involved, which I'm doubting, it'll still be a 29er purchase. Gotta stop looking at the cool ass cross bikes too....bike 16?

If you already have a FS that you like, I would go HT. I have 2 bikes, a FS 26er and a HT 29er, and it works out pretty well. If I had 2 FS bikes, it would make the choice of which one to ride more difficult.

Yeah, I have a 2002 Giant XTC Pro FS 26er, it is dated a bit and freshly rebuilt and performs stellar for what I do with it, love it. Got pivot sets so it can hang for some time. I'm leaning towards the carbon HT but that FS is very tempting tho.

For most of the riding I prefer doing (rougher, more technical terrain), I grab my FS bike. It sees more miles than my HT. That said, I love my steel Sawyer HT at the parks that are mostly smoother singletrack. The steel has some give to it, not quite as jarring as aluminum.

It's a different style of riding. Going fast over bumpy stuff on a HT makes you ride mostly on the fork since the back tire is bouncing around.

I won't need a new bike for a year or 2, but we'll see how 650b does over the next year or so. I may sell off my Fuel 26er and go with a 650b Fuel or Remedy. Probably going to keep the Sawyer forever, though, and mod it a bit.

Great pic Jordan. I watched those 13 Carbine 275 for a couple weeks on Pricepoint.com (frame only) at 40% off. Just couldn't justify it. All 10 mediums gone now

As far as the 650b goes, just from an inside perspective if your going to be buying a new bike i would make it a 650b or a 29er a lot of companies (i cant say names) are going to be dropping there 26" lines (other than downhill bikes) if you havnt been on one yet do it u wont regret it if i was getting another AM bike it would be 650b but for the DH scene its still to early to tell whats gona happen with 27.5...but i cant say whos, but a 650b line is coming out in april that im realy excited for so if ur almost in the market for a new bike hold on a little longer
