Update on Sette Reken. Apparently pp was not willing to switch out for black frame.
He should have the bike Friday. Woot
Hell for 90$, I'd just order the frame and swap out myself however.

I use a skinny bent rounded off regular screwdriver to get under there and lift the grip enough to get a shot of hairspray under it to break it loose and slips right off. Have to move shifter/brake lever over to get access to edge but comes off simple. Wife hates that I use her shit working on bikes. I also use bar end caps under those grips so if the bike falls over it doesn't cut out the end of the grips.

Just built up this frame over the winter, can't wait for the trails to dry out so I can really try it out! Also had the fork rebuilt with some new kashima coated stanchions

Need some help guys. Time to buy a new mountain bike. Don't need anything hardcore but I for sure want a mountain bike and not a crosstrain or hybrid. Plenty of trails and even some more technical stuff around me, but no need for rear suspension. I am tall at 6'5'' and right at 200 lbs. My last bike a cannondale was a 21", it was a great bike that I bought in the early 90's, and had probably one of the first rock shox on it. Well maybe not one of the first, but when I got it no one had front shocks. I liked everything about the bike but I always thought it was too big. I was never ultra comfortable on it. So I was thinking of maybe downsizing to a 20 or I have even sat on some 19.5's that seemed really comfortable. Seems the geometry of the bikes have changed a lot since I bought that last cannondale. I want to be in the 5-700 range. Here is what I have looked at....

    Trek 3700 disc
    Trek 3900 disc
    Trek 4300 disc
Specialized Hardrock sport disc 29 (any advantages to the 29?)
    Hardrock disc
    Rockhopper

All are in my price range, and readily available and on sale at local bike stores. Pro's and Con's to any? Any particular winners you see here? I am leaning towards the Trek 4300 disc, no particular reason but it seems to be a pretty solid rig, but I dont know shit. Any help is appreciated.

    specialized hardrock disk :D
I love mine but dont really have much to compare to :embarassed:

for you size I think a large to XL frame would suit you. I think that is a 20" or 21" each brand will fit a little differently.

I like that hardrock disc as well, it is nice and non flashy. Any input on the 29er's. I have been doing a little reading and they seem to be fit wise good for taller folks like myself.

I think the idea of the 29er is that the taller tires are suppose to roll over obstacles easier.

check out some of the MTN bike forums and see what people say about each bike. I thought I wanted a 29er for a second bike for the "cool" factor but the more I thought about it I decided against it
