5 players including Pryor suspended for 5 game(for now) for next season, but not the bowl game? Why not suspend them for the bowl game? That doesn't make sense to me. There have been other players suspended for their bowl games. I don't agree with Mark May on a lot of things, but he is saying that if it was Ryan Mallett or basically anyone else in the SEC, they wouldn't be playing in the Sugar Bowl. I have to agree. Plus, I think 4 of the 5 are Juniors anyway, so how many will actually decide to come back next year, especially since they're losin basically half a season anyway? The NCAA screwed up on this punishment, IMHO. I guess they want OSU to have the best chance possible to get their FIRST EVER win over an SEC team.

Yep, kinda mind boggling.. and even with all of them, I don't think they'll beat Arky.

You are partly correct, the part about OSU not beating a SEC team is spot on, however, the school is the one that imposes suspensions NOT the NCAA.

But OSU actually suspended them for the Sugar Bowl and the NCAA immediately declared them eligible....

And the NCAA is who suspended AJ Green, not UGA. Richt sat him out the first game so that it could be retroactive to that game instead of missing him for games 2-5, we were without him games 1-4. He sat him out until the NCAA concluded their investigation and decided what they were going to do to him.

The NCAA suspended Dez Bryant, not OK St.

This is interesting, cause I kept up pretty close with the Cam Scam, (I am a AU fan) and all I kept hearing was it was up to the school not the NCAA. Maybe cause it was ongoing, who knows?

And in the Cam scam, AU declared him ineligible (even though no one knew about it)before the UGA game I think...can't remember which game it was, but the NCAA reversed that decision the next day.

I think it's really up to the school and the NCAA. If the school imposes a punishment first, as long as the NCAA feels it's tough enough, then it's the school's suspension.

Found this article from the Bryant suspension:

    http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=4600727

    "
The NCAA ruled Tuesday that the junior All-American will not be eligible to play until September 2010, possibly bringing his college career to an end if he enters the NFL draft.
Bryant said he's disappointed in the NCAA's decision to keep him ineligible for the rest of the 2009 season."

    The NCAA can suspend players...

and when AU declared Cam ineligible, it was so that the NCAA would be able to declare him eligible, in other words clearing him, in the investigation.

EDIT: and it was before the SEC Championship

There is no making any sense of the NCAA's rules or decision-making. Money talks, though... Keeping the OSU stars in the Sugar Bowl means more money, and that's why they did it.
