I just don't agree with a lowered 4x4. Defeats the purpose. I'll gladly trade haha. I could use the 4x4

Are you here to try to learn and understand? Or to badger? Let's get that question out there.

As early on in this thread, it was made pretty clear by a moderator, that if you don't have anything worthy of saying, then walk away.

I'm here to learn! As stated I don't mind a lowered truck, if that's what it's intended for. 5 lugs aren't for offroad. 6 lugs are. I understand the prerunner now because v6 double cabs apparently don't come in a 5 lug, but I just saw some lowered 4x4s, and I just don't see a point in that. 4wd is for offroad, and lowering a truck like that just seems kind of pointless to me. I see it all the time where I live. Jeeps that have 24s and are slammed, slammed duallys. I just believe that if your gonna build a truck, why not use a truck for it's intended purpose. It goes the other way around for me as well. I've seen people lift an x-runner, and I disagree with that. That truck is made to be a street truck, and looks damn good doing so. Although I will say a lifted truck with the x-runner body kit does look pretty sweet. I swear I'm not badgering anybody, nor trying to hurt anybody. There are some sweet pics on here

Ever seen a 6 lug race on a road course? How about a 4Runner? Those are definitely, in their own category. Built for purpose. Just because they don't fit the accepted "norm" doesn't that they are "pointless".

That's what I'm saying. Purpose built. 4x4 6 lug is built for off road. 2wd 5 lug built for street, racing, etc. You see what I'm saying. If it's got 4x4, it's ment to I places a lowered truck can't go. Personally, if I could afford a base 2.4l 5 speed, id take it in a heartbeat. Or the newer base 2.7 5 speed. They can get almost 30 mpg haha. The wallet would love that over my gas guzzling 3.4l. Use the 4 banger for my daily driver, and the prerunner when I play offroad

why are you bashing in this thread? you bought a pre-runner! where was you brain when you were shopping for a vehicle? you have the handling and fuel economy of a lifted 4x4 truck and the offroad ability of a rwd car. who are you to come in here and bash in this thread "derrr whay you lower pick up truck?" why did you buy the worst of both worlds?

What's up everyone, I just picked up my 1st gen taco 2 weeks ago (2nd picture is how I bought it) I had some wheels I had been sitting on for awhile that were intended for my z32 but I wanted to see how they looked on the taco. (1st picture how it currently sits aside from tinted windows now) i would say I'm tastefully lowered. Wheels are enkei rpf1 18x8.5 +38. (Edit, pictures didn't upload properly)

American motor sports makes a kit that slings more then the other kits in travel for LT, why wouldn I get the xrunner and Long travel it?

My prerunner will go anywhere I need it to, without paying for 4x4 insurance and I definitely get better mpg then 4x4s. It also definitely has way more offroad ability then a car. I got mt's and a locker, and a low geared rear end, and I can keep up with my 4x4 buddies in the woods. Some of them are amazed at what it will get through. I don't have to have 4x4 where I go. I got my truck because I needed a vehicle, and it was an affordable dependable option. I'm only bashing people who take a 4x4, which is meant for offroad, and slam it with like 24s. I see it to often and it just bothers me. I have nothing against any of the other people here. There are some badass rides here

So you're saying this is not a place where we can discuss anything? I'm not bashing lowered trucks. I've said that multiple times, although for some reason that's all people are hearing. I'm just trying to understand why people would lower a 4x4. That Is all. I'm trying to have a mature discussion but nobody seems to want to have one.

    Sean,
The fastest built Tacoma I know of is a 4x4 access cab that is lowered and sits lower than a stock Xrunner.
You need to stop posting and do a bit more reading before expressing your uneducated opinion.
Personally I am not "into" lowered trucks but that does not mean I question the intent or motivation of others to do so. Rather I respect the hard work and dedication that these individuals put into their chosen projects.
You'd be amazed at the similarities in challenges that people face between lowering or lifting a vehicle.
