a custom bed idea

Ok my truck is an 01 I'm turning it into a drag truck but the 10.50s hang out an inch so I'm thinking of cutting the inner lip out and unbolting the two lower brackets and using some 2x4s and a portipower to jack the bed out and use a 1/4in dowel to bend and weld to give the lip strength again. (I am a profession auto body tech) I was wondering if anyone has flared any and the problems streching it that far.

Pulled bedsides are pretty common, you shouldn't have any problems if you're a "professional."

I've done fiberglass stepsides actually broke and remolded. I rolled mine to the point where it kinked then I repaired and painted it but I need/want 2 more inches of flare. On camaros I've cut and added 3inches of metal to get the width I want but I don't want to do that again I'm hoping it'll roll when I release the lip welds and 2 lower brackets. Ps I made that hood on my truck its lift off fiberglass around half of the factory weight (just a little bragging (: )

Good news you don't have a huge wheel well to cut just this bracket. I cut and bent it for this pic (i fully removed it now)

Now since I'm going extreme 3in I had to drill the spot weld bellow tail light. I also had to trim the whole lip of the bed to get it to give.

Just unbolt that bracket. Now the bracket in the 1st pic is really thin I'm just goind to use a piece of flat metal to replact it.
