I'm really impressed with how this taco looks. Its very very clean. Just wondering what size wheels and tires you'd use. Would you go for the same profile as stock or have to tone it down a bit?

Swap out the wheels ..even just the 17'' stocks would be fine

So you'd use say 18's or or the stock wheel if you wanted but the question is what about the tire size? Keep the profile close to stock or bring it down to 29 or so...say a 275/50-18 or a 275/55-18? I looked at the tire on the truck closer and it looks like an Eagle GT2, which comes in 275/45-20, or 285/50-20....?

If you were to do this drop kit, what 20's would you use?

up to you, but i'm runnning 29" tires and im lower than that. we all have the basic fenderwell, and i rub on occasion, so looking from those pics above, you would prob. rub on large bumps, dips etc. with stock tires. 29" tires would give you more tire gap, but you should sit lower than the truck in the pic, and not have to worry about rubbing. imho i have seen one of these dropped prerunners with stock sized tires, and they sit pretty high, so a smaller tire will help with that. & the smaller tires should help with your low end acceleration as well :D

Not to be an ass.. But what's the point in dropping it, for speed or something? If anything I'm lifting mine 3 or 4 inches.

Better mileage, wife can get in easily, easier to load and unload cargo, easier to work on the motor. To mention a few.

You can't buy an extended cab Tacoma with a V6 Auto RWD that's not all jacked up like some off-road crawler. My '95 is a perfect ride height, but it's all used up and you can't find them in decent condition anymore, so I got an '04, last of the 3.4L before they inflated the body style to look like a Tundra. If I wanted a Tundra, I'd have bought one, I don't want a Tacoma that looks like one. Same for 4WD, If I wanted an off-road truck I'd have gotten a TRD SR5 4WD.

So, for me, I'm going to mod my PreRunner, get rid of the locker for a lower ratio diff, but still have all the nice features of a low mile '04 with all the options.

At 70 MPH, the lifted Tacoma pushes a lot more air than one that's low to the road. Admittedly marginal, but it's probably worth 0.5 to 1 MPG, I do a LOT of highway driving. Changing out the rear diff will make more improvement, my 95 gets about 20MPG, the 04 gets 18-19. Same motor and trans. I'll have to change the diff anyway when I go to smaller tires, I'm sure there's some off-roader who wants that e-locker, I'll never use it. :)

mehh, it's a truck. nothing fancy
stock aside from texas edition crap.
I currently have a 06 pre runner 4 door & I sure wish there where more options for lowering these trucks. I love the looks of the truck and think it would be great say 4-6 inches off the ground. I Know bags is the best option but after owning 1 bagged truck I'd prefer the reliability of a static drop.

Deck plate, all time auxillary, black billet, xeon bulbs, sockmonkey decals, and lots of back to black.
It doesn't do anything for me. that pic after to me looks like a taco that needs a lift kit real bad. Obviously to each their own. If your gonna do it though I feel like it could use two more inches.

lower? Smaller tires? I don't get it lol.

To each there own though. I would love to see one of these trucks next to mine lol. Putting 3 more inches of lift and 37's soon.

I wanted an auto S-runner not a 4x4 SR-5, but you can't buy an S-Runner anymore and they never came with auto trans. Got no need for 4x4 anyway.
