I am getting ready to purchase a summer tire and wheel package for my 09 stock 5 lug. Can anyone tell me if I will have any rubbing issues with the following 3 tire sizes.

    255/60/17
    265/65/17
    275/55/17

I did a pretty decent search and came up empty. I do see where TC Bob has the 265/65/17 as the largest tire the stock 2nd Gens can run with no issues.

those would be waay to big

i thnk ur refering too the 6 lugs...theres another thread on this topic but theyre for lifted trucks. 31" overall diameter is about the biggest you can go...idk if its with or without a lift. im running 225/60/182 which are around 29" tire and when i was stock height i had not rubbing problems

i'm thinking you would need a lift as well. i'm running 245/75/16 on my 5 lugger along with 3" lift.

Thank you this is what I am looking for. I may have to back the tire size down to a 235/55/17.

I really do not want to lift the truck as I have no intentions of going off road in a 2WD.

Righto, believe me, I have what you call a "street queen" from what the guys have told me. :p But the lift made the truck look so much meaner, those damn stock tires and wheels killed the truck!

    LOL

Bet the same guys also say that a lift on a 2WD is pointless and I tend to agree with that. I think that for a 2WD it would be all about the look you are trying to achieve. And that is not bad by any means.

For me I just want to be able to carry about 1/2 a scoop of stones, close to 1400 lbs, and not have the truck be unsafe to drive.

I am not too fond of black either. I am looking at some 5 spoke gunmetal. The stock wheels leave a lot to be desired.

Do you have any rubbing issues with your current wheels?

mine stockers were 205/60 or 70 /15. now I have 235/60/18 and there is BARELY any room when I do a full turn to clear the edge of the wheel well hump by the cab.

you might, cut down on the middle size, like put it to a 40.

    Thank you for the help.

I am not a fan of low profile tires on my Tacoma. I still need to carry loads and the sidewall height is of concern.
