New front shocks. Now sqeaking and eeiking on drivers side

Hey there everyone. This is my first post. I need a bit of help or advice. I did a search and had no luck. I just put 4 new monroe sensitrac shocks on my 1999 taco 4x4 extra cab. When I got through I had a new noise on the drivers front side. I figured the shock was defective or I had forgot a bushing or something. I tore it all back apart looking for a mistake or something. I came up with nothing. The shocks are lifetime warranty so I am figuring it is something else. I am not a tacoma expert or I might have some clue as to what is makeing all the racket. It is all the time, slower speeds 5-15 mph. on dirt roads are driveing me to total insanity here on the farm. It is like.... eik, eikkk, krieek, eiik... nonstop! AHHHH!!! It is probabaly the most irritating noise I can think of. You don't notice it when you are on the hard road due to tire and the asphalt noise. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Sounds like its the bushings. Spray some WD 40 on the shock bushings on the bottom, and spray a little on the coil seat, then spray a bit where the coil meets the top plate.

I appreciate the advice fellas. Thanks! So I got a friend to help me move the front drivers around. This made pinpointing the problem easier. I actualy greased all contact points to give me an accurate test. It is the brand new shock absorber. I got it's replacement on the way. That was easy enough.

As for WD-40 on your coil over assemblys... That is pretty much a big no,no. That is unless you like a bunch of sand and grit sticking to all your shnit.

Toy4Life... I hope your other 2000 and some posts were more useful than the one you gave me. If chris4x4 really needed a mascot I am sure he would get one with long blond hair and tits. I didn't realize we were comparing sizes and building rep. here at TW.

Anyways... Ridgerunner. You had it rite! Unfortunatly I did not have the old shock still. Thanks Again! --ThefarM

Sand and grit isnt going to hurt the shock. It get bombed by dirt and crap all the time, if you off road. WD40 sure isnt the worst thing you can do.

Bad form, Dude. We all try to have a little fun on this board. When someone else makes a comment on a post of yours, if it isnt related to the topic you brought up, at least it gets bumped up so more people can see it and help you.

Changing front suspenssion usually makes it stiffer and thus rattling sometimes comes from elsewhere. It would be wise to investigate the hood hinges .
I know it sounds off track but I have seen this happend twice, right after changing struts, hood squeaked and knocked the inner holding pin doing a typical top plate noise.

If this is the case, using a 2inchs long rubber flex hose over these pins (right in hood hinges) will fix the noise.

Interesting. Are you talking about where the hood latches, or the hinge points near the winsheild.

CHEERS!
Apology accepted. Yeah, we're all a pretty tight knit group here. No reason you can't be a part of that if you're still interested. I gave you negative rep, but you've earned some positive....I'll send some you're way soon as I can.
It's in all the past as far as I'm concerned. Welcome to TW and cheers

Yes, hinge points near windshield, happended to me, I was sure my top plate was loose and even did the job twice (coil compressor and all) because in my mind there was no doubts that they making noises but it was the hood.
Same thing happened when doing my friend's tacoma

Now I think its worth a peek before taking suspenssion apart again.
added this pic, there is a pin holding pin that goes trough the hinge on both sides, if the hood shakes more with stiffer front coils they could be knocking on the hinge
