Play god with my truck lift

Alright, in the next few months I want to lift my truck.....I'm a first time tacoma owner and new to the world of off roading....

So.. If you were me and had a stock 2010 TRD off road 4x4 double cab... what would you do to lift your truck? I want more than three inches but less than 6. I know the higher you go the more stuff you gotta do, extend brake lines stuff with gears so on....

point me in the right direction, help control my trucks fate!!!

I would go with a suspension lift between 3" and 6". Front and rear. Probably from a company. Hope this helps...

long travel I like allpro's system because you can run it with stock fenders. Custom rear suspension 4 link with airbags and in cab controller

 

its funny you should say that because I noticed his truck a month or two back and its exactly what the type of setup Im going for... only thing holding me back is that installing the RCD requires some cutting of the frame doesnt it? As a noob to all this I dont know if I want to go that far down the rabbit hole just yet haha.

I was thinking something along the lines of Toytec's Ultimate lift... and maybe throwing something else in with it to get that extra inch or so.....

how much is that RCD go for? i didnt see a price on the site.

 

can't do that with a 4x4 not if you want to keep your front cv joints for any period of time. to get more than 2.5" of lift you either need to do a drop bracket like RCD procomp fabtech all which require cutting the front cross-member or long travel allpro camburg to name a couple these require new upper and lower control arms as well as shocks and longer front axels. Long travel will push the front wheels out further.

i think the toytec would be good. the all pro long travel is pretty sick too...just search for toytec lifts on here and pm solus and see what he says about his lift and you should get plenty of info

could have sworn ive seen lots of guys with 4x4s with the ult toyec..

 

i didnt think you had to cut for the crossmember for the small dropbracket(non rcd procomp fabtech)...but dont quote me on that considering i only have a 2wd haha

adding to the toytec ultimate lift to get an additional inch of lift totaling approx 4" is what I was talking about with regards to CV angles

 

yea you'll screw everything up with 4" and no UCAs or diff drop

Im going to simplify my question.... what and where is a good place to start with lifting my truck.... something I can do now and maybe after some time and more money I can expand on. (Im going to head this of now)Im thinking I can do somthing more advanced than spacers.

I think i gist of what yall are saying about adding too.. but What about the ult toytec just by itself?

 

if you want over 3" either 4x4 compatible long travel (Allpro, Camburg...) or drop bracket lift (rcd, procomp, fabtech)

the next step above spacers would probably be 5100s in the front and aal in the back or nothing in the back...but 5100s only give 2.5" of lift.

but i believe the toytec ultimate lift gives you everything you will need for the amount of lift you would get except UCAs if i read the list of include parts correctly.

 

IMO drop brackets are not the way to go for offroading. For looks yes, but I much rather go for 3" like the ome system. a 3" lift makes an awesome offroad vehicle. next best thing is SAS. Allpro LT is awesome too. I here 4" or more of lift with no drop brackets. really pricey though.
