Can't get the spindle off the freaking uca!

Seriously I've beat everywhere on the freaking thing with a hammer, I'm replacing the factory uca with new tc uca's and IT WILL NOT BUDGE. FOR The love of god help

 

Hit it harder. Don't be afraid, it won't break.

 

So where exactly is the best place to hit this thing, i have a 2010 taco sport. Also do i need to do any lifting with it b4 i knock it out? I seriously just bent a near 1 inch thick rod trying to pry it off. OMG !!!!!! GOT IT ,,I,, POS THINGS

 

beat down on the top of the UCA, right about the bolt that goes down thru the spindle

 

Lifting the UCA or truck? The truck should be on jackstands..If you are talking about the UCA than I would say no, I didn't but it could help if it is having a hard time budging. When I did it, I hit it on the side of the spindle and the vibrations cause the two parts to dislodge from each other.

2nd one off in a breeze, LESSON LEARNED, hit it from the bottom bolt

 

Oh if Chris was here he would say to never hit the bolt it could mess up the threads. There is a flat side on the top of the spindle facing the front of the truck, I few well placed sharp hits with a hamer and mine just pop out. But I'm gald you got yours taken car of; in the future try hitting it there though, to avoid messing up your threads.

 

ya i was a lil worried but you don't keep that bolt if your replacing it do ya? I haven't installed the new uca yet so havent look over the directions. Cause if you do one of my nuts may be screwed

 

Never Never Never hit the bolt or ball joint in any way. there is a flat spot on the spindle above where the bolt comes through for the sway bar. Hit it there with short sharp blows. It will eventually break loose. If that fails then you need a proper ball joint separator.

 

sorry new to this and tried about everything when it wouldn't come off

 

it can take a few blows. a proper ball joint separator is not that expensive either. i would say like $40 for a two size set, you dont want the pickle fork type they will damage the grease boot on the ball joint. Im used to california trucks. They tend to come apart a little easier.

 

Use your bottle jack and place it between the Lower Arm and the Upper Arm, and crank the jack up. then hit it.

 

didn't think about that one, and ya next time i do it I'm gettin the proper separator

already got it out early by beatin up on the nut, but next time (hopefully a long time from now) i will try the new ideas
