I'm stumped (coilovers: two choices)

I've done all of the thinking and research I can, but still can't come to a conclusion.

The two sets of coilovers i'm trying to decide between are the walker evans 2.0 with the adjustable reservoir, and the walker evans 2.5 w/o reservoirs.

this is how i see it so far, any help from people running one of these or who know a good deal about the differences would be great

2.0 w/ resi----------
PROS
-12 way adjustable reservoir (in theorey this also means that with more oil, there is less of a chance of the oil breaking sown due to heat build up)
-$100 less than the 2.5s
CONS
-i couldn't actually find the info, but i'm asuming that the 2.0s have a smaller shock shaft than the 2.5s (which would be more prone to bending/breaking, which i read about another member doing to this exact set of shocks)


2.5 W/O resi---------
PROS
-more oil due to larger shock body (again, helps with heat build up)
-i'm assuming a larger diamiter shock shaft
CONS
-no adjustable reservoir
-$100 more




so essentially i'm trying to figure out if the gain of going with the 2.5 outweighs the extra $100.

if i was you i would get icons over W.E.'s

 

With those Prices I'd look towards Kings or Icons.

you have a bad experience with 2 inchers, or do you just really like your 2.5s?

 

alright, so the general concensus is no WE...so the options i'm seriously looking at are icon, fox, and king. the icons and foxs can be had for between $1000 and $1100. looks like down south has the kings for $1400. i knwo the guys at DS are great to work with, but just for financial purposes, is there anywhere else yall would suggest checking out pricewise. i recognise the kings are a higher lever shock, so it's expected they will be a little more expensive, just never hurts to ask

 

oops, gonna correct myself. you can get the 2.0 resi foxs for $1100. the 2.5s are actually the same price as the 2.5 kings....both with reservoirs. does this sound right? i always thought you had to dish out more for kings over fox???

The icons are probably one of the best bets unless you are looking for adjustabilty(as far as dampening). Then you can get the fox 2.0's at AllPro for $1100. They have an 8 way click adjuster. I wonder how much of a difference it is from 1 to 8?

 

with the 10% off code from toytec you can get them for $945. i hear ya on the not needing resis thing. it just seems like there are more options if you open up to reservoirs. in the 2.5 inch market it seems like icon and racerunner are the only onces making them without. i swear i saw a set of kings on a taco without, but i can't find them online. nothing wrong with overkill though i guess

 

i'm curious too...i haven't really heard anyone on here comment on htat aspect of them.

 

Anyone know why 2.5"s do not come with the adjustable dampening option?

 

Kings 2.5s and I love them. Downsouth can get you a good price. I can check with the truck shop too but you have to pay shipping.
