Vibration in steering wheel and gas pedal after 3" READY LIFT install??

Hey, I just put a 3" READY LIFT (P/N 69-5055) suspension kit in my 2008 Tacoma TRD Off Road. Everything went in great, and had an alighnment done also. Anyways, driving down the road at about 40-60 km/hr I'm experiencing a vibration through my steering wheel, and gas pedal. It feels like I'm driving a truck with a real heavy lug tire, but still havethe stock wheels and tires on. As I reach higher speeds, the vibration seems to get better. I know somebody has an answer to this problem, so for know, I will be on hold waiting for replys.

I also have a 08 doublecab and i experienced the same thing. Check the Carrier bearing! when we do not so good things to our trucks like spacer lifts, we forget to by the OME Carrier bearing drop kit! Thats what went out on mine when i was feeling the same pedal vibrations and steering!

 

do you have the Stock UCA's? alignment will still be out of spec with a 3" lift and stock uca's.

 

Yes I still have the stock carrier bearing. READY LIFT does not specify at all to drop the drive shaft with the 3" Lift.

 

Not totally true! I have stock UCA's And i get mine alligned just fine no Vibrations or pulling or anything like that! Check the Carrier Bearing! Please and let me know if it was bad or not?

I'm expecting it is good. I just put the lift in this morning, and drove it down the road a couple km, and this is what I'm experiencing. I really have no time on the truck with the lift installed for the carrier bearing to be worn, or bad... I don't think ??

 

any proper alignment shop will have the specs saved in their alignment program. They will be able to give you a print out of current specs before and after the adjustments. on this print out will be the factory alignment specs, most read green numbers if it good, red if its out.

Ask for this print out every time!

 

Same lift and shake, man. Had alignment done week after install had shake as soon as I got done installing. Putting in carrier bearing drop hopefully tonight, will give you follow up.

 

If you lift and put on tires at the same time - there's no way for sure to know if you've got a wheel balance issue or a driveline vibration. That's why it's best to change one parameter at a time.

The *really* short answer is you get under the truck with a tape measure calibrated in 1/16" inch increments, and measure the length of the top of the driveshaft flange to flange, and also the bottom. They should be the same, or the bottom should be 1/16" longer. Use a small CB drop or angled shims between the leaf pack and the axle to correct.

 

I had my original tires and wheels on the truck during and after the install, and had the vibration/humming noise coming from the truck emediately after. The next day, I had new wheels(Factory 17") and tires, which were balanced and alighned at my local Toyota dealership. Same problem exists.

 

I have also just received my Old Man Emu carrier bearing shim kit. I installed the spacers, and this problem is not any better. If anything, it may be a little worse.

 

I odered the O.M.E. carrier bearing kit, insatlled it, and this has not fixed the problem at all.

 

Had 2 alighnments and wheels balanced 2 times at the Toyota dealership. All was in the green.

 

All was in the green, what more can you do

 

Call readylift and bitch them out. Tell them you had it professionally installed and was guaranteed factory ride

 

Some shops will do a "Visine align" settings enough to "get the red out" Usually caster is tough to get back to stock specs after a lift. But I have a Gen 1, so what do I know?
