ToyTec adjustable coilovers, diff drop and 2" AAL - $567.90 shipped
Total Chaos UCAs from WheelersOffroad.com - $690 shipped
ToyTec machined top plate for front shocks - $151.99 shipped
Bilstein 5100s from DSMS - $269 shipped
ToyTec Shock extenders - $28 shipped
6 top studs for top plate to mount to truck - $15 from Toyota*
Lifetime Alignment from Firestone - $149**
Installation - $25 (for pizza. Installed myself with a friend)
Total - $1895.89

* The studs were supposed to be included with the machined top plate from ToyTec but were missing. They offered to overnight them to me, but I was having my springs compressed when we found they were missing. Luckily, they were Toyota parts, so I was able to get them at the dealer.

** I chose the lifetime alignment and it's already paid for itself. When I originally put the lift on, it was set way too high. So I adjusted it down and had it realigned.

I am only slightly mechanically inclined and installed the lift myself (with a friend). It took a while (~8 hours) but wasn't difficult. I haven't done the rear yet because I haven't decided if I'm gonna need it. I probably will, but for now, the rear is stock height (with the TSB springs).

I had Toytec Bilstein coilovers & Lightracing UCAs installed: $300 for labor plus $112.50 for an alignment.

I got them both the UCAs and the coilovers from Toytec during the TN coilover group buy for $750 + $30 for the differential drop. Total cost excluding shocks (I purchased and had those put on at a different time) was $1192.50.

I bought the shocks from eBay for $260. So the total for my lift was $1452.50.

Yes, it is spacers on the front and add a leaf in back. I had rubbing after installation which was expected but I took off the front mud flaps and now I only get minor rubbing once in awhile turning sharp corners. Dont forget, I have an '09 2WD PreRunner Access cab, it might be different for other models and other lift kits...

Ok nice. One more question if I may is that I see new spring coils come with the toytec kit. Are these better/needed if the TRD already has the blistein shocks? Or am I completely of on that one.

How hard was it to install the rear 5100's? I'm going to order some maybe tomorrow.

The rear shocks are super easy to install, just line em up and bolt em on! Front is the same if you buy the shock and coil fully assembled.

+1. I just replaced my rears finally last week and it took about 15 minutes per side. Very easy!

lift kit

I never had a lift kit before. Just bought an 09 tacoma double cab
Question1-can i purchase a lift kit from toyota dealership and will they install it.
question2-will it nullify my warranty
question3-I don't want the 3 inch lift for offroading-just looks. they are selling them on ebay for approx 80 bucks..with 7 hours of labor. Is this all i need to buy.
thanks

Check out this thread:
http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/sus...uide-read.html

Also, do a little searching on this site and you'll find answers to all your questions.

However, a lift for $80 and 7 hours of labor??? Either someone doesn't know what they're doing or is trying to scam you. The cheapest spacer lift ($200-$300) wouldn't take but 2-3 hours for even someone that wasn't very mechanically inclined (like me)!

yes you can buy one fron some toyota dealerships and Yes they will install it and no it will not void your warrantee.

if your details indicated wherte you live I could suggest one that does sell aftermarket lift components but as it is your on your own.

7 hours to install a lift is way off base except if you are getting something really special like an full blown extended travel job with all the bells and whistles

what your suggesting shouldnt take a competant mechanic more than 2 hours to do perhaps 3 if they are doing some extras like alighnment adjustment and the like.

I got my bilstein 5100s (front only) installed at ORW (San Diego) without an alignment. Cost me $148.80. They had it done in about 2 hours. They did put on some license plate frames, but I don't mind, they're better than the dealer plates. Only reason I didn't get an alignment was because I had the tsb performed 10 minutes later.
