Price you paid for 5100's in front & AAL in rear

I've read a lot about lifts on this site...probably too much. Tons of variations and price ranges.

I've come to the conclusion that if I want just a slight lift (2 inches or so), 5100's in the front, and AAL in rear is the way to go. So for those that have gone that route...

1. How much did you pay (for everything...parts, labor, alignment)?
2. Where did you have it done?

Buy those there, PM him in his Vendor thread for discount code and they'll be I think 5% cheaper. Choose whatever AAL you want, I think Toytec's popular.

My local shop gave me a quote yesterday for exactly what you asked, and the labor for 5100's front and AAL rear, is $225.

Highest quote I got for that labor was $500.

Also, if you start to get ridiculously high quotes, make sure you rephrase it to them as "So you're telling me you're going to charge X amount for replacing shocks and adding a leaf?".

Seems they love to charge out the ass if you give off the impression that you don't know what's involved, but as soon as you sound like you halfway know what's going on, they'll be alot more realistic.

 

Have your quotes included an alignment?

 

I bought my 5100's and eibachs off a group buy on here. forgot the price though, I think $330 shipped, no AAL yet. I did the install myself and Toyota did the alignment when I had the rear TSB done.

 

The first one, add $100 for allignment, second yes included.

 

I ordered exactly those items on Tuesday from downsouth and toytec, paid $250. Gonna do the install myself. Alignment will be about $100 as usual.

One question though: harbor freight has a couple different spring compressors, a $40 one that is what I assume everybody gets who mentions it, and a $10 set that are just giant screws with hooks. I've used the latter one as a kid helping my dad replace shocks, is the $40 better/safer I assume?
