It's worth looking up the thread and at least reading it before doing the install.

    Relevant points are:

    1. Potentially increased exposure to undercarriage damage - depending on how you're set up.

    2. Doesn't necessarily affect CV angles as much as you might expect, based on the fact that you're only lowering the front mount points. This also changes the operating angle of the front diff.

That's cool. I wanted to get some of the issues for consideration, without turning this thread into a repeat of that thread.

Quit threadjackin' you threadjackasses. I'm aware of the availability of the diff drop and am considering it along with other options. Let's get back to CV angle pics.

I'm in the same boat as you. I was workin under the truck last weekend and noticed how bad my angles are. Toytec ULK installed August of this year. I just got done looking at toytecs website to see which way to rotate the collar to lower it a little and will be doing that this weekend. I do have the diff drop but I installed it while doing the front coilovers so I don't know if it did help or not.

I'll see if I can snap some pics of mine and post them up when I get home from work.

Since my OME lift is only about 2" I opted out of a diff drop. My CVs could definitely look better but they're not all that bad. Might buy some aftermarket boots and put together my replacement axles for when these eventually go bad.

Here are some of mine with the Toytec Ultimate lift kit. The first pics are the Toytec kit which kept blowing CV boots. The last pics are of the RCD kit which I have had absolutely NO trouble with.

These are with a toytec ultimate lift set at standard lift from toytec. Haven't adjusted them yet.

Not sure what my final lift was after the install. I do know that my tires sit an an awkward angle after the lift and I'm hoping dropping the front just a little will help with that as well. I had an alignment done and everything but the caster was within specs according to the sheet so I'm not sure what's going on there. I added spidertrax spacers on the front and it seemed to help a little but it still looks a little too "tucked in" to me if that makes sense.
Once I have time this weekend I'll measure the height now and after I do a little lowering.

My Toytec kit started blowing boots after I adjusted it to a higher setting. Right now with the RCD kit I'm at 4.5" according to the company. Ride is definately a 100% improvement over the Toytec.

Ok, cranked it down to the following measurements tonight and the CV angles are MUCH better. Pics below. My pet theory is that erroneous 39" ground-to-fender measurements are being reported as a 3" lift by people who install non-adjustable lifts (OME, Toytec) on Prerunners (which are lighter in the front than 4WD by a couple hundred pounds).

    Bonus item:
Dropping from 39" each side to 38" cured my takeoff shudder. No more need to dick with the pinion/carrier bearing!

    Ground to Fender:

    Front Driver: 38"
    Front Passenger: 38.25"
    Rear Driver: 40"
    Rear Passenger: 40.5"

    Hub to Fender:
    Front Driver: 23"
    Front Passenger: 23.25"

Exposed thread on COs is about 1.5" driver and 1.25" passenger. 3/4 tank of gas.

    Driver Outer:

Passenger Inner (the angle makes it look like the fins are touching, but they are not. It looks like the driver side.):

OP , what do you think your amount of lift was over stock after you lowered the front , 2" ?

I think I'm at 2.5" to 3" now. All the searching I've done in the forums leads me to believe stock 4x4 2nd gens have a hub to fender measurement of 20 to 20.5", and I'm now at 23" driver and 23.25" passenger.

I think I was at 4" before. The COs were cranked pretty high and my hub to fender measurements were 24" both sides.
